Is that the IRA bomb at South Quay? If so, about 15 minutes before that went off, I was walking past that shop on the bottom left where the single fatality was working.
I was a junior postman down there. On the Monday I had letters for St. Mary's Axe, and didn't know if the buildings were operational. The whole area was cordoned off, but the police let me through, as the details for where the companies had moved to were posted on the corner.
My curiosity is getting the better of me again, this is clearly a York screw chiller (famed for being as indestructible as they get), is it in a basement? Does it have an evaporative cooling system (cooling towers) backing it up?
