The all new 'Who do you support' thread..

There is fair bit of difference between posting a one answer post and adding an enlightened musing on the merits of their respective club.

True but if these people aren't interested enough in there side (or football in general) to take a few mins to post occasionally in the footie threads, then how useful is there vote in this thread?

It looks as if we're getting a lot of part-time footie fans voting and as expected they are voting for either Liverpool or Utd, had we just counted the regulars it would be a lot closer than it is.

Well, what is the point of this thread? I know you were set up by MrG so oddly enough may not be the best person to answer but from what I can see it is nothing more than what the title says, in which case part-time football fans have as much of an input as anyone else. I don't see what usefulness or otherwise comes of it?

True but then you probably have a relatively good idea of who you consider the regulars to be and what the numbers are roughly who support each team (I have a mental tally anyway and I don't post in EPL threads all that often). Essentially I'm struggling to see what the purpose of the thread is if not a simple straightforward tally of people to nominate 'their' team whether you regard them as a die-hard fan or not. :)

I don't see the point in the thread because we're not getting a true reflection of who, on this forum, has the most supporters as we're getting people with no real interest in football but just say they support some side for the sake of it.

Ive got 2 brothers with no interest in football but if you asked them who they support they would say Liverpool because the rest of the family does but does that mean that Liverpool have got 2 extra supporters?

I agree with BaZ87 on this, most fans know the regulars and those who support the likes of Man Utd, Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Fulham, Charlton, Hearts, Celtic, Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds, AC Milan etc...

The reason we know that is because they are the regular posters.

Man Utd and Liverpool fans are the most popular, despite Man Utd having a lot more fans in this poll, with regulars we know it's more balanced on this forum. It's of no offence to the none regulars, but that's how I see it.

It seems as though those who really love and support their club post any way, most of the regulars here go to several games a season, can name the entire squad, members of the coaching staff, know the match attendences, the ground and surrounding areas and where's best to get a drink. Those who don't might support they're club, but it's hard to see how they could be as passionate as those who do without posting regularly.

Don't be, as long as you genuinely support them (i.e. take a real interest and make every effort to go and watch them when you can) and are not supporting them for the sake of it.

Interesting to see that the number of Tottenham supporters so far is only one lower than that of Arsenal, and above the Chelsea number. From reading posts I'd had the impression that both Arsenal and Chelsea supporters well outnumber us here. Maybe we just keep quieter. :)

Im suprised at how many Chelsea fans we've got, i only thought there were a couple, there are a few of the regular Arsenal fans that haven't posted yet so with those they will be clear in 3rd.

Been a Man Utd supporter since I was about 4 or 5 years old :)

Lost a bit of interest in footie after we won the trebble and missed about 2/3 seasons but have got back into it for the last three seasons now :)

Also support Swansea City if your counting teams outside the Premiership/Championship.... since they're the best local team near me :p
