The "All-Things-Guitar" Thread

Hi guys,

I got a new guitar the other day and just recorded a video of me playing some stuff.

Please watch in HD :)

SRV - Texas Flood
True Blood Theme Tune
Brad Paisley - Little Moments solo
Eric Johnson - Can't remember the song name.

Beautiful sound from that Tele Gustov. There's just something about the sound of 'attack' if you know what I mean.

I've always had a soft spot for them, love the 'nicotine' yellow colour. Got to say I've not seen a Tele like yours (finish), was it easy to find?

Thank you. Here's a better picture.

The tele is easy to get hold of. It's a fender american deluxe with a maple fretboard and an aged old cherry finish. I think I got lucky with the grain of wood.

What I'd do for a 60s Strat (Sunburst or Fiesta Red). :(

Will buy one soon. Can't play it though.

Played a near-mint mid-60's slab rosewood + Sunburst into a 60's DR the other week for a pub gig. :D

Sounded pretty nice wound up to about 7.5 on the dial with an SM57 off axis. Just my fulldrive as a od/solo boost. In all honesty I prefer my maple boarded '68RI though even if it is worth 1/30th of the dough!! :p

Lovely guitar, would it be possible to get a similar sound out of a line 6 pod 2? Speaking of which - are there any owners of a pod here? I picked one up the other day but for the life of me cannot figure out how to use it properly.

I just started playing again properly in what must be the best part of a year, it's amazing how quickly your fingers know what to do without you having to think about it. If fact if you try to think about it it seems harder.

Anyone ever got a line 6 guitar port working alongside guitar pro 6 or tuxguitar?
Guitar pro6 is ideal for learning new songs, but it outputs only to my computer speakers, whereas the guitar port will only output to a headphone plugged into the back, i'd like to redirect one of them so they are both outputting to the same destination!

Is it possible?

I've done it for years.
Depending on your sound card output from your Guitarport into the Line In of your soundcard - simples.

How do you redirect it? i use the gearbox software and in preferences there is no option to do anything like that.

Leave your PC's soundcard as the default device, get yourself a male to male mini jack headphone lead and go from the headphone output of the Guitarport to the Line In of the soundcard.

Hi guys, I was going to create a thread but thought it would be easier just posting here.

I'm wanting to play the guitar but no idea where to start that will keep me motivated, for the past 5 years or so I've dabbled with them, my Dad has a keen interest in playing but he admits hes still only a beginner despite sounding ok on them.

I used to get tabs and try just play them, I struggled moving my fingers though, what's the best way to 'train' them? Is there any point learning chords etc when m only really bothered about learning songs I like? I like rock, metal and the sort.

I know it's the old cliche, of practise, practise, practise but I couldn't even play tabs that well.

Also, can anyone recommend a learner guitar?

Cheers
