Why'd you delete that post? Those guitars look sweet, so they have kind of a line 6 pod in them, but instead of amps and pedals, it contains tunings and guitar models.

Because there are people on here who think they are toys and think I've made a massive mistake.
However, without all the electronics it is the best guitar I have ever played and my playing has taken a huge leap because of it.
On stage I use the normal pickups for 21 out of 24 songs but on two songs I use a Martin D12 acoustic setting and on an Hendrix track I use an out of phase Strat setting.
In the house I have a lot of fun and can quickly alter tunings & sounds.
For instance I was learning the proper way to play Kashmir last week and all I had to do was switch to a Danelectro sound and put it into DADGAD tuning - sweet.
I often pick up my slide, switch to Dobro and put it into open G and have a Seasick Steve moment.
It sounds like a toy but it really isn't.

Ah cool, cheers for the pic, dig the hanging them on the wall thing, I hope to do that one day when I have my own man cave :D. Have you ever had any problems with your missus asking why you need more than 1 guitar? :p

Ah I see. It sounds like a pipe dream to have a guitar that's actually 20 guitars in one, a transformer guitar if you will, but the proof's in the pudding, so if you say it's the bee's knees the naysayers should have a listen. I would love to have a guitar that let me instantly change tunings. I'm still a complete guitar noob, so no idea if I could appreciate the difference between all the versions of guitars properly yet.

This is me having a quick play going through Telecasters, Startocasters, Gibsons, Rickenbackers, acoustics, banjo, Dobro and sitar.

Telecaster sounds very good there, strat is not too bad... not really liking the Gibson/Rick and so on... although I guess for a Gibson LP type sound you just use the magnetic pick-ups. :p

Sounds awesome to me, but that may be down to the guitar player! :D

Love the banjo and sitar, sounded pretty authentic to my (untrained) ear. Do you have any vids of you playing on your band site? I remember in another thread you posted some vids and said you were in 2 bands, 1 as singer and 1 as guitarist.

Of course the right amp needs to be setup for each sound which makes a major difference.
I've got the telecaster sounding great now when I play along to country backing tracks.
The Les Paul sounds every bit as good as the one I sold if I put it through the same amp setting.
The rickenbacker 12 string was played clean so I should have put it through a Vox or similar.

These are things the new guitarist has to consider - it's pointless putting a Martin acoustic through a Vox AC30 and pointless putting a Telecaster through a Marshall stack, each guitar sound has to be matched with a correct amp setting to get the best out of it.
This is why the Strat is known as a session guitarists Swiss Army Knife because you can put it through anything.

Hi guys, hoping this query will be very easy for some of you to answer...

I am looking a song that is easy to play for a beginner from start to finish inc any solos.
I'd preferably like it from (In order of preference!): AC/DC, Guns n roses, pink floyd, aerosmith.

Seem to be struggling to find something that doesn't go mental during the solo. Tried back in black and shoot to thrill, and it's ok up until the solo goes mad! :( I suppose thats what makes these bands great and why i want to play their songs!

Hopefully some of you will know their easiest songs :)

I virtually play in an ACDC tribute band and the easiest stuff out of those 4 is definitely ACDC.
I recently did 3 gigs where I had to do lead guitar duties without knowing any solo's, so all I did was use the best weapon available which was the pentatonic scale and it got me through every song and nobody noticed I wasn't playing exactly the same as Angus.
Virtually everything Angus plays is in the pentatonic so I knew I wouldn't be far off.

I bought myself a grip strengthener on Amazon which lets you exercise individual fingers, so hopefully that will help me play better.

Not sure it will help you play better.
There is absolutely no substitute for actually playing the hell out of your guitar. that way, you are gradually improving grip strength whilst becoming more fluent on the fretboard :)

Emperors New Clothes because some of the greatest guitarists play with a feather touch.
Players like Steve Vai, Ritchie Blackmore & Yngwie Malmsteen barely touch the strings.
Both Blackmore & Malmsteen have scalloped necks which means if you press too hard you'll be out of tune.
My lead guitarist also has scalloped necks on a couple of guitars and I can't play them in tune because I'm heavy handed.

It might help you in the bedroom though.

Can't play guitar at work! ;) . Will try using the grip at work for a few weeks and will see if my finger strength and dexterity improve at all. The main culprit (I think) is just my pinky. Hard to get him playing as well as the other fingers.

I can feel I've already improved somewhat in the past few days. I played for 2 hours last night and my grip is far more comfortable, and I can sometimes play notes in different positions from memory without having to look at the frets. It's awesome, time just flies by.
