What slot have you got the GPUs installed to??

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
* For optimum performance, if only one expansion card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 (PCIEX8)
* The PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. It will operate at up to x8 mode when the PCIEX16 is populated.

2 x PCI Express x16 slots, running at x4 (PCIEX4_1, PCIEX4_2)
* The PCIEX4_1 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 and PCIEX8 slots. When it is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode and the PCIEX8 slot will operate at up to x4 mode.
* When installing a x8 or above card in the PCIEX4_1 slot, make sure to set PCIE Slot Configuration in BIOS Setup to x4. (Refer to Chapter 2, "BIOS Setup," "Peripherals," for more information.)
(The PCIEX16, PCIEX8, and PCIEX4_1 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)

slots 1 and 3, just tried tomb raider, black screen froze pc, then did hitman and got 10 fps increase from 1 card on average and 2 on max. Then I run the benchmark again and it hitches to a minimum of 1. I'll do some tests with MSI afterburner next.

Have you set the PCI speed in BIOS for that slot to 4x? You should have the GPUs in 1 and 2 for the best performance with this MB.

Looking at the manual for the board it would appear that slot referred to as PCIEX8 is infact the 3rd slot. It should be possible to run at X8 in slots 1 and 3 simultaneously.

Tried metro, runs nicely :)

Were you previously running in Windowed mode sir? :)

Nope! Here's the thing, it seems the benchmarks are running poorly but the games are running pretty nicely (Dying Light is a mess on crossfire, but I had the same issues on SLI). I'm going to download about 20 demanding games and see how it all runs.

Perhaps it was just a weird bug!

Not the best picture but it shows about 85fps at 1440p maxed without SSAA. Temps are superb for 2 cards.

Yes the game developer has fixed some issues with the game affecting multi gpu setups and it's running well for me now. I've also seen the new drivers in action with an improved Dying Light Crossfire profile and it was working well on QuadFire too at 4k. :)

Improved ? With the Omega driver my crossfire doesn't work when i play Dight Light...

And yes the new patch improved the stability of the framerate but i'm still at 30-40 fps outside in the city. It's not very good comparing to a GTX970. A friend of mine is running the game at 60fps minimum with its GTX970. And what do you mean when you sad it's running well for you ? 30fps ? 60fps ?

Hi all,

Just looking for a little help regarding a first AMD install please :)

Basically, after much pondering i've gone for a 290x over the 970 and have been reading in various places that when uninstalling the previous drivers you need more than a simple "device manager" uninstall, as this could cause problems with the new ones.

Now i've always had Nividia before so this will be the first time i'm "switching sides" so to speak, so I was hoping if someone could please point me towards the right kind of driver remover to make sure that all my previous stuff is completely gone before installing the 290x?

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.
