The AMD Driver Thread

You've got to be an "enthusiast", by enthusiast I mean somebody that likes to drop top dollar on a card but not being able to play any of the latest releases with Crossfire enabled

Last time I dabbled with Crossfire it was poor, doesn't seem like things have changed too much.

My experience has been playing many older games with crossfire perfectly fine, just issues with the new ones. Therefore I have come to conclusion that if you are someone who likely to play games on release, multi gpu is not a good idea.

I have had so much fun being able to finally play so many games in 4K because of my 295x2. Even Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom pain worked very nicely on release. But not being able to play the Elite Dangerous, Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 in crossfire properly was frustrating.

It will be interesting to see if this liquid VR thing will get proper crossfire day one support.

As other have already posted still have "black snow" in SWBF

You have msi afterburner? Make sure to restore default clocks If you do..

I have had that in the past. Reason for me is msi afterburner forgets the clocks speeds after new driver install and bugs out..

I run it at stock.

AB is not running. I just turned AB on to see if adding an additional 20 mhz did anything and it didn't so I put it back to stock. I'm using gpuz tosee what the cores running at. I only turned these programs on too see why it's running so slow.

I've moved the game from DX11 to DX9 to see if that changed anything and I get an additional 20 fps but it still stays under 700 mhz core clock.

I usually sit at well over 60 on DX11 and close to 90 on DX9.

Fallout 4 is okay hitting the right core clocks which is close to 1040 as it's a Sapphire o/c Fury Tri-x. But it is jumping around from 700 odd up to 1034 so amybe it's not fine either.

I'll have to test more games.

But if it's not solved for Stalker I'm stuck.

things have generally been top notch on crossfire, yet I hear posts like yours a lot. But personally being a crossfire user for the past 2 years, I've had very few problems. 99% of games work fine, this little period we have now is really strange though. Every game in the last month or two seems to have no multi gpu support at all.

Maybe I was just "unlucky" when I last tried but I can remember hours of frustration trying to get things to work and weeks/months waiting for game support or Crossfire profile to be released.

I just don't have the time to invest any more so it just needs to work "out of the box" otherwise it just becomes frustrating very quickly.

Anyway we're getting a little OT, I would like:

1. Black Snow
2. Horizontal flickering and image tearing in 2D (3 screens, R9 290x), 15.7 and up

to be fixed, if I had to choose I'd like number 2. to be fixed as it's starting to drive me la la!

So far, so hmmm.

Like the new look, seems faster and more responsive. But why release it with what feels like less options than before and have options all over the place, rather than in the one app?

So I now need to check the new Crimson app, CCC 'lite' and then still have to go back into Windows to arrange the desktops, set the resolution and then advanced settings to change the refresh. :/

Not a massive pita, granted and is only something you'd be doing rarely but after having it all in one place for so many years it just seems like a step backwards.

Do prefer the new look overall, just think it needs CCC getting rid of and all the settings in one place, with one look and feel.

@LoadsaMoney, I get that pop up on restart as well also had it app crash on me just now while browsing the forum.

I havn't had an APP crash (yet :p).

Same. I think it's kinda random.

Yeah, its been reported, so hopefully be fixed soon :)

After using the new UI now, I find it rather meh tbh....

It is too "basic" and I hope that all the video player settings, which we had access to before i.e. colour management, edge detection, brighter whites etc. haven't been enabled by default and hidden away so no way of disabling them now???

And still no 21.9 VSR :(

It is a step in the right direction though.

Yet to try games out to see if any performance improvements.

Any idea on this Joe or Matt?
