The AMD Driver Thread

seen a few more which back it up so god knows , but on 1440p high settings ( found above that you have to much visual clutter ) native fsr4 so no upscaling it crushes bf6

did run a frame counter at the start but its one more thing distracting on the screen so uncertain what they are average adrenaline is suspect as it counts the menu screens

Oh guru3d was looking worse than that hmm...

If that helps. But basically vs 5070Ti:

1440p = 85 FPS vs 96 FPS (-11 FPS)
4K = 47 FPS vs 52 FPS (-5 FPS)

Those are non-upscaled figures.

this is actually the one I saw and sees the 9070xt about the level of the 4070ti sometimes a bit higher but lower than the 4080...annoyingly it doesn't show upscaled to 4k

Is there any way to use Frame Limit in the AMD driver for just 1 game and not for all which is the only option I see in there?

Yes I have Rivatuner but I want to use it in the driver so I can uninstall Rivatuner that I wouldnt need anymore if I can do it in the driver.

Cheers.

You can use Radeon chill for the the game. Each game will have a separate profile.

So will this lock my FPS to my refresh rate (144Hz) as I thought Chill dropped the FPS when scene is less intensive, but I'd rather it locked to 144 at all times.

Edit, I always use Vsync in DayZ

Reason of asking is because I have noticed that now and again, Vsync becomes disabled and I'm suddenly getting over 300FPS that I dont want, just locked to 144 feels way smoother anyway :)

Edit.. OK  Actually clicking on the Chill option I see how it works now with Idle FPS and Peak FPS lol

mine started doing the massively over my frame rate thing
actually lots of small things like that started happening the last couple of days
my instinct is to potentially look at the windows update that just happened as loads of stuff like desktop background
loads of small stuff like that so im guessing that its possibly related
i was somehow getting 400+ fps in gta v which is well i need to investigate how to get it back to normal but il sort that later lol no big thing im guessing but yeah

im probably wrong on that one though LOL!

You'd probably be better, if there is no in-game FPS limit setting, to use FRTC within Adrenaline. (a couple of options down from Chill)

It was doing this before I updated to 25H2 unfortunately.

Chill is not really a thing to use anymore and you'd probably be better, if there is no in-game FPS limit setting, to use FRTC within Adrenaline. (a couple of options down from Chill)
Seems like FRTC is a global setting and not for individual games though, they need to sort this out, if Nvidia can do this I'm sure AMD can.

Anyway I just fired up the DayZ client and with Chill set to 144 and 144 on both sliders it seems locked to 144 FPS so will play DayZ in a bit and give it a proper test :)

You know what, I never noticed that. So it is! I wonder why.

i noticed it at the same time that i noticed that my desktop background had been changed to a black nothing , my log in screen was back on windows default and a few other settings [not to do with the gpu specifically] all went a bit weird
and a few other people reported similar ish things
the only thing we can sort of think of atm is we all had a windows update in the same few hours leading up to said weird things happening
i dont neccesarily see this as a smoking gun for windows update being to blame
BUT
it is the only common denominator it seems so id say its worth investigating the windows update
i could be well wrong on laying the blame on the update but its the ocams razer answer i guess

Why not Chill? I used to use FRTC but switched to Chill because it works in more games.
Because Chill is more a dynamic power saving feature based off in-game activity. Whereas FRTC is an actual static limiter and it mentions that it gives better frame times vs Chill. I'm not saying don't use Chill, and certainly now because FRTC is not game dependant as I've just found out; so Chill is the only other option (if no in-game settings exists). Chill isn't a strict FPS cap in a sense. :)

EDIT: I've edited my previous response as it did sound like I was saying "Don't use chill". :)

My interpretation of that help text is that Chill has variable frame time because it has two limits, but there's nothing stopping you from setting both limits to the same value. Maybe one day I'll do some measurents to compare them.

Just got off playing DayZ and running with both limits at my refresh rate seems to be NOT as smooth as Vsync, some slight micro stuttering.

Just Vsync is way smoother but will disable itself sometimes, not too often, and I see way higher FPS.. its just a good thing that quickly minimising and maximising the game makes Vsync work again. It might be just DayZ as old as the game is but its obviously not a huge issue that is fixed in a second or 2.

It becomes obvious when I see micro stutter and I saw my 9070 GPU temp hit above 60c while over 300FPS and on checking memory (Samsung) temps its the first time I saw it hit 74c which rarely hits 65c when I use Vsync. When this happens it gets picked up on recordings in OBS which is why I would like to keep it smooth at all times.

Will see if a future driver update sorts it out.

Just to add, FRTC doesnt seems to work in an OpenGL Virtual World that I sometimes play occasionally.

Try using 142 or 140 so it's under your refresh rate.
