The AMD Driver Thread

I cant actually show you as I rolled back, wish I had made a video now.

Other complaint here..

Some say OpenGL info is wrong in GPU Z and some have 'Not Available' like here..

Somebody at AMD must have a Second Life account they can log into and go to a club and look at the avatar skins while running latest driver surely? :)
I've asked them to check in with it, I'm not sure it's a part of regular coverage for OGL but I'll ask to have it included

Not quite parity with NVIDIA yet, but we've come a long way :-)

Can you show me a step by step on how to reach this corruption in-game? I don't need you to roll back, just give me a concise list of instructions for my technicians, bearing in mind they're completely unfamiliar with the game

I dont know how Second Life actually works with AMD if they're not even familiar with this place, its a virtual world ran by Linden Lab, been around since 2003

So you go to https://secondlife.com/downloads make an account and download the client (its free with a basic account), just choose any pre made avatar and go in-world.. the first step is some orientation island thing that you can skip, just click on the search button and search for a club like Warehouse21 or Peak Lounge. Teleport to the location and look at other avatar skins and see if they notice flickering shadows over their faces or any part of the avatar skin that is on show.. just keep away from Adult Sims, you might see something you didnt want to

for context, my technicians need concise repro steps with the game. AMs and Devtech are a separate department to triage and debug teams.

I'll pass that info on, and will let you know if they have further questions

Just going in there and looking at avatars is all they need to do, the flickering will be there or it wont. Unless some issue from the iGPU driver problems is causing it then it should be obvious. I'll mess with some in-world settings on these 25.9.1 and see if it happens again but I know I didnt change anything but the drivers when this happened, Cheers.

@MyBrainz is this the type of corruption you're seeing?

No, everything renders up but with flickering shadow effects on skin textures.
okay, interesting. The above can be observed across our HW, including on 25.9.1 as well as nvidia ampere and lovelace.

Honestly I think I'm going to need a depiction of this from you to verify with internally.

genuinely I do not know what you mean by this. I'm dropping this until i have concise steps to reproduce the issue you're seeing.

All they need to do is log in where other avatars are, max out the settings and look for flickering shadows on the body skins on avatars.

This screenshot is how SL looks to me on 25.9.1 drivers. Are they using an RX 9000 series with that screenshot because that picture you showed is how Second Life used to look years ago before they brought in the fancy graphics and lighting etc.

They're using a 9070. You hadn't specified any in-game graphics settings prior. Get me a step by step list, including a comparison between good and bad behaviour, and I'll get it back to them.

It happened with any settings, even with shadows disabled. Just max out with or without shadows and see if it happens. I always use max settings and shadows depending on where I am in-world.. cheers.

Anyone getting their AMD gpu drivers just not appearing on the bottom right? You know the red coloured icon that appears with the other icons? Just seems as if AMD driver software doesn't load on startup?
