Hey guys,

Got my Vision 3070 on Saturday and having problems today, seems that only the middle fan will work and it's currently running at over 3000 RPM which isn't bloody normal. I wouldn't mind but I have a browser and Discord open so it's not like it's under a heavy load! I've uninstalled/reinstalled drivers but the problem persists. Not very happy at the mo!

Just wanted to pitch in and say have had my 3070 since december 18th last year and no issues to report yet. It is the gigabyte vision oc edition and has impressed me with its incredible performance to cost ratio. Also one of the higher performing cards out their pretty easy to apply a strong overclock easily beating out the 2080ti by a good margin.

Have you considered trying msi afterburner and setting the fan speed manually and seeing if the other fans move at all adjusting the fan speed gradually?. You can also setup a custom curve for it on msi afterburner theirs plenty of guidance for it online.

I did give that a try but to no avail. Ended up sending it back where I got it from and they tested/confirmed a fault and replaced it.

Here's a small gameplay from the heaviest cpu bound game of 2020 yet (cyberpunk 2077 with rtx enabled, bhv structures adding increased cpu load)

proud to see my 2700x holding up

3070 at 1080p dlss quality with all rt settings enabled (lighting medium) + slightly optimized settings (casceded shadows to medium for a bit cpu headroom, volumetric settings to high to add a bit gpu headroom)

image quality is fine for me, it looks very good with %50 sharpening applied. before ray tracing, i dreaded to apply sharpen filter, because it also sharpened the SSR grain, which produced horrible quality. but with ray tracing, reflection grains are gone and grain sharpening artifacts seem to be minimized

i find the bottleneck to be minimal for my preferences, and this is the worst case scenario for my cpu, so im happy overall. games will be more gpu bound going forward anyways

definetely below** supreme/strix, and nowhere near them

i would say it sits between amazingly good cooled cards and very badly cooled cards

not best but not worst very mediocre. i would say it does not deserve its premium price

but beggars cant be choosers so..

So I purchased my Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming OC in mid February, early March it picked up an issue where the 3rd fan (closest to the front of the PC) would just ramp up to max RPM for no reason and stay there. I tried manually setting the fan curves on the Gigabyte software and MSI Afterburner, no help there.

I then opened up the PC and re-seated the GPU, this didn't help, however I noticed that the card was sagging a little. When the fan kicked in I lifted the card and the fan returned to normal behaviour.

RMA time - well the card has been returned, the fault found and a refund or repair was offered. I took the refund, the repair timeline was a minimum of 28 days! A real shame as I was happy with the card, however 1.5months for a £700+ card to last makes you lose confidence.

Just a quick "PSA" announcement for Palit owners - Palit has release the resizable BAR vBIOS update. On a B550 w/ 5600 it's about 3-5% boost to fps in my experience (ymmv depending on the games/software you use.) You will probably need to update your mobo BIOS and you will need the latest nVidia drivers.

FYI -if you manually cross flash the non-OC to the OC model, the Palit updater will update to the OC firmware from then on, you need to manually cross flash just the once. There is no physical difference between OC and non-OC GamingPro cards; Palit just had to sell a minimum number of MSRP cards to keep nVidia happy - those are the non OC skus - this is why they are so much more limited in availability compared to the OC ones. Once you flash the the OC vBIOS, you will get the proper power limit and power adjustment range; 240Wdefault/270Wmax vs 220Wdefault/250Wmax vs for the non-OC vBIOS.
