The Ampere RTX 3080 Owners Thread

I already have a card, but if I couldn't get one for MSRP, I would not upgrade!

a lot of people who spent thousands on a gpu will really feel the pain when supply gets sorted and scaplers stop scapling because they are loosing money.

Think if you paid £1500 for a card then go to your local electrical retailer and see it there for £700.

I'd like to think that people are making an 'informed' decision. Few of us 'need' these cards - it's all want really, and part of that want needs to be squaring with yourself what it's worth to you. That's true without or without scalpers.

With PC hardware there's always a degree of 'don't look at the price after you've bought' because it will inevitably go down, usually sooner rather than later. People spending £1500 on these must know that and must expect to see it cheaper relatively soon. I just hope that their extra 4 months or whatever of gaming was worth it.

I'm with you though, the MSRP was enough for me.

Lol, my first PC was £1600 for P100 with 8MB RAM, then the 16MB RAM I bought for £400 was worth more than gold by weight at the time. It'll be worthless landfill/recycled by now but it was well spent at the time.

Also with you on the MSRP - if the only way to get one is pay £££ over that, I'll skip this gen entirely and come back for the 40 series, asuming the world hasn't ended before then!

I ran the Horizon Zero Dawn benchmark before and after enabling it. It was basically the same, perhaps 2 fps or something.

Need to play around with it more, because that doesn't seem right
Hi, can I know your average fps in horizon before rebar? I assume you’re on the extreme preset 1440p with vsync off and full screen? This is my benchmark without rebar, Vsync/Gsync disabled for max fps and full screen enabled(not borderless). Would love to know what you get with the same settings. My gpu and cpu are the same as yours and everything is at stock except a fan curve for the gpu.

@Guest2 good sir, can I please know your warzone settings. Do you have Gsync/Vsync enabled? I have both disabled and it’s not as smooth. I average around 180-220fps. Dips even to 140fps. At 1440p 144hz. No Nvidia filters.
3080fe, 5600x stock. I feel like there is mild stuttering and not as smooth. Any fix that you came across?
Renderer worker count=6
Video memory scale=1.0

Sure, I created this as have posted my settings a few times now. It includes my machine settings, NCP settings and game settings.

With your 144Hz monitor, set 140FPS max to limit FPS lower than your monitor refresh rate. Anything higher than 144 will create tearing
With my settings it's 97fps all the time, except the initial plane scene. GPU temp peak is 67c

Hey there,

My settings were a tad different to yours, but here is my before and after ReBar enabled. I also had RTX enabled quite high in the settings box outside of the game itself, and DLSS off.

But capping frame rate introduces input lag? And shouldn’t your worker count be at 8? Since 8 physical cores?

Are you at stock gpu and cpu? Horizon zero dawn doesn’t support rtx or dlss, how did you enable it outside of the game? And I noticed that you’re on a older version of the game. The newer ports have a lot of improvements.
Also if you have the time, do give a run with the same settings as mine, would be nice to have a sanity check since we have the same system specs.

Unlimited in game and cap to just lower than monitor refresh to stop tearing over monitor refresh.
Nope, 1 lower. I tested 8, 6, 4 and 1. Best is 7, which is the default set if you remove the file

You will always get some level of input lag when limiting fps but outside of competitive fps then it's not something that will effect your gameplay and you probably won't even notice it.
