Can't see another thread on this, but who's excited on the new Series 2 watch?

Who's getting one? perhaps a poll ?

As a prev watch owner, i am excited that the new apple watch has built in GPS and is waterproof. As i swim everyweek, and found it a pain to have to remove it during showers and swimming.

Anyway, the only thing i'm a little upset about is the value of my current stainless /w sapphire. Which doesn't seem a lot looking at fleabay.

So i'll be taking a big hit on the sale of the now series one. Plus i'll probably only end up buying a sport version. As lets be honest here, soon as the series 3 comes out, the series 2 will end up being sold for not a lot.. Not sure its worth investing in the more expensive elegant stainless with crystal sapphire glass.

I dropped $999 for the original with stainless link strap saying to myself at the time, well i'm paying less than what i'd be paying for a Tag... I guess i can keep the strap which is still $500 to buy...

Anyway i'm as excited about the new watch as i am about the new phone.

I agree in that its a little clunky looking compared to some of the other smart watches out there. Was kinda hoping that it would be made thinner in its new iteration. But as said earlier, i think smart watches are going to be like smart phones, in that we're changing them over for something new every couple of yrs, unlike a typical expensive timepiece. So probably just going to get a sport this time round... Maybe after they've made it slim line and with enough power to see you thru a good few yrs, i'll buy another crystal sapphire one.

I've got until tomorrow to make my mind up :D

I'm also worried about scratching the glass on going with an aluminum.

Crystal sapphire is near high impossible to scratch, whereas that gorilla glass or whatever is called, can get scratched !

its about $140 difference. However a scratch and well no-one is going to want to buy it, whereas a perfect (which has a lot more chance of being over the course of 18months) is going to still have some value.

Food for thought ! i voted 42mm aluminum, but i maybe switching it lol

Yes my SS Sapphire has seen its fair share of knocks, and its still perfect. The sport has what is known as an ion glass. Call it whatever you want, its not sapphire.. That being said, it does feel substantially lighter, than the SS/Sapphire. So its not all bad.

My guess is the series 3 will be sleeker slimmer build, so no one is going to want the series 1 or 2, when the 3 shows its face (pardon the pun) sometime next yr !

Dunno about the UK but in the US for a 42mm sport its $399. For a 42mm SS/Sapphire its $599. So an extra $200.

I reckon i maybe able to get $250 for my SS/Sapphire series 1, if I'm lucky.... very lucky :( See how things pan out. No-one seems to be putting bids on for whats out there. Maybe they'll decide later that the sapphire series one is worth more to them than a sport series 2 ? Who knows... Depreciation seems really high for an apple product.

So still on my original watch. Reluctant to sell it, given the pap prices people are selling them for.. I'd be giving up a Sapphire Crystal, SS first gen, and putting an extra $200 to get a sport series 2. Ion-X aluminum. Now with Watch OS3, its transformed it completely, and makes it feel like a new watch. So i'm holding onto it for now.. Not prepared to drop an 'additional' $400 to get a SS sapphire series 2 after selling the existing, so i think the sport will always feel like a downgrade.

Question tho, to those who have upgraded. How much snappier is the series 2 over the original ? Really the only app i really use is the fitness app, and it does everything at speed i like now..

The only other thing that would justify a series 2 over the original is that I do like the idea of swimming but other than that, the gps feature, thinking about it, i rarely if ever do not have my phone close by or with me.

Fourteen days. Yes, it's an unconditional return so no problems at all.

I'm leaning more now towards returning it for a refund. How about you Feek?

Which one did you fella's buy ? Sports or SS's ?

eitherway, even if it was a sport. $400 is a decent chunk of change. Something better to spend on, than needing to not have your phone with you, when you go for a run ! The original is still IPX7 waterproof. So you can't go diving upto 50meters in it... but it'll withstand being on your wrist and being pushed in the pool by your mates !
