The Apprentice 2008

I'm okay, I speak like a farmer and ate fried food when I was a youngster.

Be off with you toff!

Well I'm a multinational so I can't really be called a toff - or can I? Though I did go to public school... hmmm it's a tough one! :D

I love hearing English being spoken properly it's so refreshing, as well as seeing well educated people on tv, albeit being no different to all those pathetic Big Brother contestants, at least I can understand the contestants now! :D

Vagabonds like you are not fit to lick the riding britches of Sir Nichols de-Lacy Brown!!!!!

On a more serious note, he was an absolute plonker in the board room, youd imagine a qualified lawyer could present an arguement better. To say to Sir Alan, who notoriously likes his football, and forever reminds us of his deprived background, what he did is just asking for trouble.

Raef is the best because he wasn't looking for people to scapegoat or blame. Nicolas deserved to go but the team leader did seem to be looking for scapegoats from the off. He also gave his mates the jobs with no risk.

If Nicholas had presented a better account of himself, I think he could have heaped blame on Alex, and perhaps swung it towards him getting fired. As it stands thought, I think the right guy went, he gives toffs a bad name.

Cracking start to a good program. I have more business skills than those monkeys but i speak common :(

Oh and this:

...is not hot in my opinion. You don't watch the Apprentice for its "talent" :p :D

The strongest male in the show so far was the solicitor that bought the Fish.
"I'll give £50, no more."
Michael "£135"
"£50 or nothing"
"£120"
"£50"
"£100"
"£50"
"£80"
"£50"
"£70 and no less"
"£50"
"£55 and thats my lowest i'll go"
"£50"
"£50 done" Michael, done he certaintly was.
:D:D Yeah, utterly ridiculous. Where was the negotiation there?

What's wrong with "toffs"? Are people insecure that there may be some people who maybe enjoy a different outlook/aspect of life? A little arrogance and self belief doesn't do any harm, unless it gets to a smarmy level which I'll concede Nicholas and Raef do have. However there's nothing wrong IMO with "toffs" - just because some people have had a bit more of a silver spoon upbringing doesn't make them bad people.
Nothing wrong with "toffs", just people who are completely out of touch of the real world and far to up their own backside..

Agreed. He went in for defence rather than attack - in such a scenario offense is the better defense.

I'm rather assertive/tough at work because I have to be - but I'm not here to make friends I'm here to manage, sometimes you've just got to be tough and uncompromising.

It was the bend over and take it style of negotiation :D
Ah yes. :D I reckon that might come back to haunt Michael later on in the show.

Michael Sophocles said:
"I am single minded and will manipulate others if necessary to get to the prize."
Hmm yes you certainly are! :D

Amen. :)

They messed up and basically said "We've got to sell this fish in the next ten minutes..." Way to destroy your advantage in negotiations, clearly business geniuses.

In yesterdays London paper Nicholas was quoted as saying he now has a pupillage at one of the best chambers in the country. This led to a whole room of trainee barristers checking directories and calling people. It's not certain, but I think he's a lying liar - nobody could find any shred of information as to where he's got his pupillage and usually that information is very easily available...
