The Apprentice

There were quite a few people not there from the original contestants (16 started out I think?) Andy, Sophie (quantum physics woman), Ifti (walked out), Ghazal, Gerri (had to look on the beeb website for her name shows how memorable she was!) and of course Katie.
I think all the contestants have to be "with" the show for the full 12 weeks. Obviously as any of them could make the finals. But then perhaps after the 12 weeks their contractual obligations to the show expire and so it is optional for them to return for the final task which is filmed 4 months after the penultimate task? So Kristina and Simon made it through the interviews then worked for Sir Alan somewhere in his companies for 4 months AND then the others can choose to come back for the final task or not?

I think Simon was the better choice. He made a much better presentation. Kristina looked understandibly gutted when she lost, though to be honest what goes round comes round and she did some pretty low down tricks to try and win the tasks she was set. I think it'll take some time for her to get over it.

Does anyone know what Katie said in the aftershow - I stopped paying attention for a second, turned around and noticed everyone booing. Later sir alan was really critical saying 'I don't think anyone could hire you after that' etc - so what the heck did she say???

It was basically a clip showing all her backstabbing and slagging behind people's backs. The audience boo'd at her behaviour in the clip. Sir Alan seemed to give the impression that it was the first time he had seen it, which is why he became so critical of her.

Did anyone notice the **** up the BBC made?

At the end of the semi-final week, they showed Sir Alan Sugar pointing to the winning candidate saying “you’re hired” without showing the person he was pointing to (obviously) but he pointed to his right.

As soon as Simon and Kristina sat down it was obvious who the winner was.. Simon sat to his right!!

As they sat down my wife asked me who I thought had the best design and who would win. I said to her that it’s not about the design.. it’s about the ability to lead a team, research and give a presentation. I thought both done this very well. However, it could have been so different for Simon as there were those that were on a personal mission rather than helping Simon. But he did the best thing by sitting them down in one room and telling them straight what he wanted. He earned their respect. Not sure about the Barcelona bribe though.

I thought bough presentations were excellent and both oozed confidence.

I think what swung it Simons favour is that there’s room for him to be moulded whereas Kristina is the complete item already.

I'm confused. When does the 'you're hired' bit happen? The task itself happened a while a go correct? Or did it happen recently after the two finalists spend a few months with him?

Yup I spotted that. So unless the previous winner was also on the right they did **** up here.

Yeah. They do the 11 tasks that we see, up to the interviews. Then the final two work with Sir Alan in his organisation for 4 months; a kind of work experience. Then they do the final task that we see. Sir Alan therefore has the final task PLUS the four months work experience to make his decision with.

Simon won(very glad), but that evil frog Katie seems to be getting all the media coverage, she was even on Loose Women this morning(not that I watch Loose women or anything :o )!

I saw that and knew that Simon had won, lol. And I totally agree about Simon being able to be moulded, he'll be like the office monkey who's got the enthusiasm for it all; everything an 'apprentice' should be. He'll work his way up and good luck to him.

I heard they only have the job for only a year. After that, they're on their own again. Can anyone confirm this?

I think it's more like the employment contract is 1 year, SAS has the choice whether to renew it at the end of that year or not.

Yup. Tim from the first series stayed for longer than a year. The prize for winning The Apprentice is a 1 year, £100,000 contract. After that they can leave or Sir Alan can keep them for longer.

1) They filmed the "You're hired" scene at the end of the building design task. They filmed two boardroom sequences which showed both possible outcomes.

2) The final decision has nothing to do with the building design task, and very little to do with the other tasks. The two finalists have been working for Sralan for several months since the final was filmed and he's obviously going to base his decision on that.

3) The job he will give his apprentice is to oversee the construction of a golf course and hotel complex near Stansted airport. Obviously, he's going to pick the public schoolboy for this job!

Simon admitted that on the morning news yesterday and said that they had to act suprised that they had won as when SAS tells them in the board room, he isn't actually being offered the job. SAS actually told Simon last week off camera and the BBC thus showed the relevant clip.
