The army... how is it?

Sorry for trying, oh great one

Part time as in:

'Oh the wars started boys, i'll be leaving now! Tara!'

?

part time as in you have a job, and are in the TA. You "play army" weekends and evenings mainly.

I knew this stuff when I was 7, thought it was common knowledge.

Sorry, because everyone is born with common knowledge about the differences between the army and the TA. I am not worthy...

I'm not saying that, I was just saying that I thought that stuff like this was common knowledge. Evidently it isn't. Sorry if i came off as if I was looking down on you, because I wasn't.

I simply took the definition of territorial and thought it would mean defending where we live.

No problems, tone and sarcasm arn't the easiest of things to detect over the internet :)

Tours?

It sounds more like a holiday club :p

A tour is bascially a detachment, eg a 4month tour to iraq is 4months working out in iraq etc etc, a tour of the falklands is time down there..

i just realised i should have grouped my replies into one post :o

So it's a nice way of telling you that you're off to a battle zone to die? :p

Sorry,

Anyone crazy enough to do that job for that amount of money must either love their country to bits, or have a serious mental problem. There are a multitude of other careers out there that would pay better and be a lot more safer. And yes, I do know there are actually people that want to fight for their country (I just don't understand why they would put their life on the line every day & potentially leave their family without a mother or mother for such pittance pay)

And their adverts are bordering on ficticious. I really can't see why they haven't been pulled up for false advertising (if it was a beer, or hair restoring product, they would be hauled over the coals for such blatent lies) - it's not anything like they portray in the 30 second clips.

Or because it is one of the most excited and adventurous careers to be had?

Oh btw don't ever say people are in the military because the have a mental problem.

I plan to go in the RAF, and after my training my first year of pay will be £34k. Can't see the problem.

You complain about the pay, but its not all bad. When i finish my ICT degree i will still only be able to get jobs at a helpdesk and such, which would pay around £13k. Acording to the army.mod.uk site, during training i would get £12.5k, and move up to £15k minimum after training, which already is more then a helpdesk job. And since i would be in a technicaly trade i proberly wouldnt start at the bottom of the pay scale anyway.

Add to this all the qualifications you can pick up over a few years, and the cheap living costs compared to civilian life and you have a pay that isnt as awfull as people make it out to be. Yes its not great, but its better then some of the alternatives, and its unlikely that any of the alternatives will give you the chance to pick up some good skills and explore the world.

Ahh very nice best of luck mate, any questions email etc in trust.

Dist - after tax/paid for room/food/car/insurance/phone etc etc i have about £700 to spend on what i like, woo :)

And the qualifications you can get are brilliant!
