Saw a great program whilst I was away on the automated house think it was on click but unsure! Anyone know where I can get software/hardware that can do the following with my own pc's wirelessly connected:

Webcams/ir in each room that see where you are and switch on/off lights
Voice control so you can choose playlists etc, turn on telly, kettle etc
runs as a security suite
Controls all media center functions
etc
etc

Cheers, have seen stuff called x10 but I really would like something that is controlled via voice and my pc/server. Any ideas?

living the dream... Employ some students to make it their final year projects. It's probably the cheapest way. I don't know much about that area but to me it sounds like the software for that would make a good computer science project. I think most of the decent image recognition stuff is developed at universities for the police etc. But you wouldn't be needing that kind of quality anyway ;).

Found some software, downloading a 30 day trial when they send me the link (registration needed!) but the kit doesnt look too expensive, might get a couple of bits to test out - not sure on the voice recognition stuff yet, maybe try and integrate via the pc, with mics scattered around.

This will be a long term project when I move house, will keep you posted, anyone with ideas comments are most welcome. :D

There was a program on bbc (click) - can anyone remeber it? Have tried the program Harmony, it is a bit limiting and uses mainy x10 (which uses the ringmain as the network when I'd rather go wireless).

Anyone ideas - got enough computers to have them control each room if that would help!
