The Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

Hi everyone,
As you know, we’ve been looking into resolving the “rubber banding” that some players on certain platforms have experienced with Battlefield 4 after the recent release of Naval Strike. We’ve found that the root cause of the issue was a configuration of certain hardware types dedicated to 64-player matches.

We have invested in new hardware to resolve this issue and deployed new higher-performance servers this week. In preparation, we conducted a significant amount of testing before installing the new servers to ensure they would correct the issue. We are already seeing performance improvement with 64-player matches and expect this to continue.
While the process took longer than we would’ve liked, we wanted to be 100% sure it was done right and that the long-term solution was properly in place.
Our objective is to deliver the best player experience possible. We feel this solution helps us deliver that to you. Stay tuned to our official channels for more information.
Thanks,
Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE VP & GM

Plz let me know if this has fixed the problem otherwise this pos game will remain uninstalled.

This was upgrades to the console servers that EA provide. There are only EA servers for console players. Even rent a servers in BF3 was just EA renting you out their existing servers so you could customize then. PC is different and has no EA servers, with all servers being provided by 3rd parties.

Its not going to make a jot of difference to you PC players as they haven't been round upgrading the hardware of the 3rd party provider's servers.

Rubber banding wasn't as much of an issue for PC players, unless your provider too, had crap specification servers. But EA/DICE can't fix that, only your hosting provider can. This is the rubber banding we were getting on 64 player XB1 / PS4 servers

You can see from my video, it was one step forward, then pause, one more step forward, pause. It was like that all the time, on every 64 player conquest server, all of the time for then naval strike maps. The issues on PC you could resolve by moving to another server that wasn't on poor hardware. Servers on good hardware may have rubber banded, but only for a short while. Never 24/7 like it was on the EA console servers. Thats the issue this post is addressing.

Source? Rubber banding is the only reason why I exclusively don't play 64man servers. I don't get lag on 48 player servers - at all.

From what I've read on here it very much depends upon which 64 man server you play on.

The ones that rubber band on 64 man conquest need more hardware power judging by the positive response to the change made on the EA servers.

This isn't an update for the servers but more for Blaze. Well that's what I understand.

Sidewinder was really excited to play with his new 290X...

... Only to find his screen goes black after a few minutes of playing.

Blaze is EA's backend server, it is what the gsp's connect to.

hmmm interesting. Hope it does have a positive impact on the PC players too then in that case.

Who actually hosts the servers for the console players then ? do EA have their own data centre and hosting or do they outsource ? i had assumed the latter.

Oh snap! Oddly my Nvidia is fine...:D

Lvlcap thinks the patch has made servers a lot more stable, looking forward to see if this is true, probably be on later as per normal.
