The Beatles

You really think Mean Mr. Mustard is the most out of place song on Abbey Road? I definitely think there is one song on every Beatles record that is utter rubbish, but Mean Mr. Mustard is great especially cause of the way it segues into Polythene Pam.

For me, it's Maxwell's Silver Hammer that's out of place on Abbey Road. John described as "more of Paul's granny music" and he's not wrong - it's utterly atrocious.

That being said for me it's McCartney > Lennon. If McCartney wrote a lot of "granny music" Lennon wrote a lot of nursery rhymes.

Either way great band and all the Albums were fantastic with the exception of maybe the white album. As they were to bothered with that indian dude weren't they ?

It's quite funny that I know a lot of posters in this thread are young but say that on a forum of 60 to 70 year old Beatles fans and you'd get lynched.
I'm not far off that age and I think the White Album is a piece of junk but it's regarded by many Beatles fans as their greatest moment.

I have mixed feelings about the White Album. There is a lot of rubbish on it, and there are quite a few songs that i just would not want to listen to, but at the same time, i have to respect the fact that they went for it with that album.
Flawed certainly, and uneven, but i respect the ambition shown. And Dear Prudence and Helter Skelter are 2 of their best imo.

Even if it is a fail, i would describe it as over-ambitious as opposed to half-hearted.

I think the first disk of The White Album is far, far superior to the second but the second does contain perhaps two of the best Beatles songs.

I just don't seem to 'get' The Beatles.

If anyone quotes my post and 'corrects' it by saying I just don't 'get' good music I will punch you.

:p

It's not that you don't get 'good music', it's more that you just don't get 'music'.

Only joking - one mans meat is another's poison, etc :p

I only started listening to the Beatles a year or so ago but I think they're fantastic. Don't have a favourite album really but do like Help! as a song :)

I've been a massive fan of The Beatles since i was teenager same for The Rolling Stones but I only really dig their early years not a big fan of their later material.

For me now it's all about The Small Faces and has been for the last 10 years or so ;)

My wife's love for the The Beatles and Paul McCartney is costing us a fortune lol front row (ish) seats are $275 a piece :(
He does put on a dam good show though (and that's coming from a non Beatles fan).

Pretty much all their albums have a song that seems out of place to me, for some reason.

Revolver- Yellow Submarine
Let it Be- Maggie Mae
Abbey Road- Mean Mr Mustard
Sgt Pepper's- When I'm Sixty-Four
White Album- Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Rubber Soul- I'm Looking Through You
Can't think of any others.

All song that i skip.

Mostly Paul McCartney songs tbh.:)
I pretty much agree with your post completely. Yellow Submarine and Mean Mr. Mustard just feel like they don't belong on their respective albums.
