I was refering to a previous comment by a1ex2001 who wasn't happy that i wouldn't show respect for the sinking of the ship.

TBH even though i didn't have a go at the crew i'm not sure what's to respect, non of them got onboard out of choice, i guess it was either, 'crew this ship or spend the next 10 years in prision / work camp / dead'.

To me that's slightly different to our boys who do the job for king and country out of choice.
 
Foreign office says that as long as the islands inhabitants want the Falklands to remain British then they will, they don’t seem to bothered its just Argentina making a fuss about it, leave them to it. I'm sure if the islanders wanted to come under Argentinian rule then they would ask and we would listen and probably give it to them not force them to accept.

The beef in Argentina (yes, go there) is just silly good. They are the world's largest consumers of beef. It's pretty much all they eat....! It's cheap over there because they have so much cattle - likewise leather is silly cheap, more so than other clothes. No chemicals, all local.

It is the best the the world :)
 
I'm not sure why they'd name the league after a ship that was owned. They should have picked something in their history that's been a great success. Oh wait...
 
I cannot believe it's nearly 30 years since I was down there, just turned 19. Looking forward to meeting some of my mates at the 30th Anniversary.

I was with 2 Troop 9 Para Sqn RE, attached to 3 Para.

This is exactly what I'm talking about you are comparing mass genocide of a civilian population to the death of 300+ sailors in combat, get some pride, dignity and respect it's all that seperates us from the sabre ratling idiots and the preachers of hate.

No I was comparing somebody doing something distasteful/offensive with somebody doing something distasteful/offensive. >.>

Argentina glorifying its villainous actions in a show of contempt for the country it started a war against is distasteful/offensive, end of.

So there are no different levels of distasteful or offensive behaviour? I find brothels distasteful bu they hardly compare with glorifying mass genocide (see what I did there).

Even if we do agree that it's distasteful (which Argentinians may not as to them they may think of their forces being killed in a glourious attempt to reclaim their own land) you basic argument then becomes becuase they did something disatasteful or offensive it's ok for us too which is the classic two wrongs don't make a right situation we've all known since play group.

I didn't say the weren't difference levels, Im sorry I couldn't think of a comparable example on the exact same level on the spot. Although tbh like most things its a matter of perspective, im British so I find the Argentina football example more offensive than the hypothetical Germany example because that doesn't involve me, a Jew would ofc have a different perspective.

The thing is, we all know that two wrongs don't make a right, but we also know its better than one wrong (i.e imprisoning murders is less wrong than doing nothing).

If we don't push back they will carry on pushing to see just what we will let them get away with.
