The best air cooler?

I have a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro. X2 4200 @2.8GHz wont go over 48c when cpu on 100% stress test

Ditto but it was the old arctic 64, until I moved to the scythe :(

Iv noticed that the weight of it pulls the cooler of the top edge of the chip and this is the same with my friend and there isnt a lot I could see I could do to it.

Works ok at at low temps but it just doesnt keep up with it is only at 2.3Ghz had to clock it down.

MOVING BACK TO THE ARCTIC

iirc then statistically the best air cooler is either the Tuniq 120mm or the Scythe Ninja with the TT big typhoon closely behind? i'm really looking into one of those Tuniq's

from the reviews, the tuniq is kicking ass, im thinking of ordering one to test, i can get to 59c on my fx60 when i push it really hard on my fzr64 so if i get one ill put up a review for people, also if they are kicking ass, well try to get ocuk to start getting them

yeah i'd really like one but atm my Typhoon is keeping my opty 148 at 2.8ghz with temps of 28c idle and 39/40c load so at the min i don't really see the need to upgrade

this "may" be of interest ;)

Great cooler this, had my 3800 at 1.525v, 2.6GHz earlier doing some benching and it just took it in its stride, barely getting warm.
It's prety quiet, looks good and works great.
Gets y vote :)

"the best" without thinking about noise is the Tuniq Tower 120, it's 1kg large tower heatsink with small aluminum fins and a 120mm (25mm H) fan in the middle; if you run the fan at high speed the cooler will keep your CPU chilly as can be.

"the best" keeping noise in mind would be the Scythe Ninja, it has spread out fins which allow you to use a very low CFM 120mm fan and get excellent performance still.

for now; no others match the performance or performance/noise ratio than the 2 mentioned; the Zalman CNPS9500-Cu and Freezer 64 Pro and TT Big Tyhoon are FAR from bad, they only trail "the best" by a few degrees. And in the end I would go for the HSF which is easiest to get and cheapest all around.

this message contains conclusions based on an upcoming roundup of HSF heatsinks at www.madshrimps.be :)

Dropped my load temps quite a bit and it was the easiest HSF I've ever fitted. Even though it's huge. I'll keep an eye out for your next review.

I don't want to begin to imagine how much strain that is putting on the motherboard :s
Its not bad at all. Its very light at the top, just fins. It's way lighter than the Hyper 6 I took off. Its not the weight that you should worry about, its the turning moment, i.e the taller the worse any load gets.
