The best heatsink available at the moment is?

I liked the mega myself, very comparable to the famous Thermalright ultra extreme 120. Only moved to the K2 as it was on offer at the time and I fancied trying it out after reading a few reviews where it was highly rated. A red mega though would look very nice in my current build.

+1 for the megahalems.

I used a black version for a while and then went to w/c
Id happily go back to one with a couple of decent fans. used 2 apache blacks 120mm on it and it was the perfect cooler. Quiet, good looking and great performance. Still using it now in my brothers pc cooling a 2500k at 4.5ghz with temps barely in the 70s even on sunny days.

To anyone who still uses the megahelims, do the fan clips still work by latching onto the fan frame? Its just that i had a problem with round inner framed fans such as alpenfohn wingboosts, currently use corsair sp's on the k2 which are the same. No issues with akasa vipers/piranhas which have a flat section on the inner frame.

i've read that the Xigmatek Dark knight Nighthawk is EXTREMELY GOOD, so i got that, plus i've had the Xigmatek Aegir for ages and that's been really good too..... but i tend to think that it's maybe because i spent ages modding the case to get the cooling just right.

megalems looks great but the the best looking cooler is easy:-...........Xigmatek Thors hammer, this would still work too, but i'd need to use a custom mount :eek::eek:

Yea afaik the standard clips that come with it do as they are meant to work with 140mm fans and 120mm fans.

if you get these then they latch on to the screw holes and work much better, there are 120mm and 140mm versions.

i got the Megahalems black today, it looks flipping great, miles better than the Xigmatek Dark knight.......... both are about the same temp, but the Dark knight is just too plain looking............... that cooler needed a bit of bling on it's top plate, just like the mega or the be-quiet

you're not supposed to lap the Mega so i wont bother.

i had the original Maga years ago, but this black version looks miles better... i give it a full 10/10 :D

i have quite a few Xigmatek 2300 rpm cpu cooler fans at 90cfm, these are black with white LEDs, these will do the job but tend to be a bit noisey

the mega black comes with 4 black fan clips and a very easy mounting system, the black coating is very high quality and looks stunning

it has 140 mm and 120 mm fan clips, plus a pair of much smaller 120 mm clips, all of these are sprayed black....... but i've swapped my fans for these:-
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-011-PL&groupid=701&catid=2331&subcat=4
so i need their fan clips instead

these should be fine, but if not i'll switch to my Xigmatek 2300 rpm fans

the Mega is twice as big as the Dark Knight, its paint feels like a plasti coat
where as the Dark knight with its thermal paint is freezing cold to touch, it conducts all the heat from your hand, it feels very strange.

this new PC Case is really well cooled, so i guess the Mega will be ok, but i sense that the Dark Knight is a better cooler
