** THE BEST MEMORY DEAL IN THE UK: KINGSTON BEAST 2400MHz 8GB KIT @ £45.99 Inc. VAT!! **

Paul,

Considering the nightmare you were having getting these to run at all - what did you change to at least get to working 2133 - just curious?

Glad you are making some positive progress at last.

Mark

In all honestly all that has changed was dropping the mem multiplier, 2133 would post at its XMP timings of 11-12-11 no problem, the board just refuses to post 2400 at any timings (now, it would post earlier in the week yet error).

Its crazy, 2400 CL15 won't post, 2133 keeps on tightening.

Next step is multiplier up to 22x (2200mhz) OR drag primaries further down to 7-9-9 or just keep working on tras and trfc.

Good mix of bandwidth and timings based around 2133 CAS9 usually gives best balanced performance if you've got a high end GPU then slightly biasing towards frequency will likely give the best overall results for gaming use whereas the tighter timings will help with typical desktop apps.

Seriously impressive, with those timings way faster than 2400MHz, it will just be your CPU or motherboard which can't do 2400MHz.

A comparison for you PG Tips. Quite chuffed im not too far behind you tbh, until you tweak your seconds that is. :p

Fairly certain it's down to the motherboard now, for what ever reason these specific dimms in a 4 stick layout just don't agree with my x-oc at 2400, 2 dimms is fine just not 4.

@Matt that's still impressive for sandy :)

Next today, 4 stick tuning at 1866 and 2 stick tuning at 2400 :)

Thanks Mr Tips, look forward to your results :)

@ Gibbo, OT but are OCUK adding the new AMD never settle games to the GPUs today? Looking to buy ;)

Here we go, tight as its going to get without volt bumps, not checked full stability, but if it does run unstable dropping back to 8-10-10 and tightening subs further should see little loss.

Thanks Paul,

Decisions now, I've got 16GB of these coming tomorrow, but as I've just bought an AMD 8350 & Gigabyte 990FXA UD7, I also ordered some G.Skill 1866 C8's thinking they'd be better suited as the 990 doesn't normally like higher speed ram? Now you've got these at C7, if stable then these would be cheaper to keep?

If the GSkill kit does CL8 1866 natively I'd give those a bash first, as I said they may not be 100% stable at CL7 further testing is required but they'll certainly bench at CL7 :)

Or keep some as spares, never hurts to keep some spare memory, detecting and narrowing down to faulty ram can sometimes be a monumental nightmare without some spares kicking about :)

hit me up space monkey if you want to sell one pack on as I only want some to play around with as im happy with the ram I have now for normal use.

Interested what u get on the amd rig thougth :)

Hi mate,

If I stick them on the MM, I'll give you a nudge to let you know I've listed them :)

Nope, AMD still have not sent codes yet for UK market.

Sad panda :(

Any ideas when you'll likely get them? (email in trust if preferred) ;)
