The Best Single player RPG games

Vampire: Bloodlines for me is the best Real 1st person RPG out there. So many choices, playing as different classes and race actually made a difference, like a different game each time, and an excellent funny storyline (varied different endings). Rich, memorable characters (e.g. Jack)

Even though the first one wasn't an FPS, it still wiped the floor with the sequal.

Whilst I did enjoy Oblivion a lot I tried to replay it and finding it hard. Perhaps I should wait a while

But top 4 RPGS?

1. KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic)
2. KOTOR 2
3. KOTOR
4 Baldurs Gate 2

I vote KOTOR twice because its so damn good. not finished KOTOR 2 yet but liking it. Though those who never played neither play KOTOR 1 before number 2.

did you play Bloodlines? Redemption is a simplistic kids action adventure in comparison tbh.

I agree with him. I've played through both Bloodlines and Redemption many times, and I prefer Redemption, it has a lot more RPG elements, and it plays better.

Pretty much hit the nail there.

Yes. It was just about tolerable.

What rpg elements does redemption have? hack n slash levelling of characters? thats about it?

How can you not like Bloodlines.... thats sacrilege tbqh! Did you try playing it as a malkavian? hilarious :D

but tbh i have only played a demo of redemption. Im so shocked that you think redemption is better that ill buy redemption and play through it...just to check myself. Was totally uninspired by the demo though

a lot of it just seemed badly placed. Like the whole vampire experiment thing where you have to jump through hoops - just seemed lame and pointless.

Game play area was too small. Ending was very anti-climatic.

Oh and it was quite buggy despite the various patches.

I actually loved Bloodlines, played through it three times with various mods. I just prefer Redemption. :p

Redemption for me was more RPG like than Bloodlines which lent too much towards an FPS with a storyline to me, kind of like Deus Ex. :o

They are definatly both great games though.

I would like to add that on its own Bloodlines is pretty good as an rpg / fps hybrid. It's just that in comparison to Redemption it fails.

I was really hoping Bloodlines would have been as epic as Redemption and had tie ins with it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was dissapointed.

Weird.. i thought Bloodlines was the first successful fps/rpg combo since Deus Ex. I thought it had even more depth than that title as well. The amount of choices and different ways of completing missions were a joy.
The only small problems i had with the game were the bugs and the fact it did become more of an fps stomp in certain parts of the game. (ie i think you are forced to fight your way through) I think it was in some sewer section of the game about 3/4 of way through.

But it was certainly the first time since Deus Ex that i had seen a successful marriage of the 2 genres imho.

k gonna see if i can get Redemption on budget today. Hopefully itll run on XP ok.
