Just wondered as I am in the market to purchase a loop :D

Been reading and people seem to suggest 90% distilled water and 10% anti-freeze then a couple of drops of iodine?

People say distilled water will attack copper and brass do they? Very, very slowly perhaps.

If anything I'd expect adding iodine to accelerate the corrosion, though I can't imagine it'll be quick anyway.

Most people on here will recommend deionised water with a piece of silver as a biocide. I believe antifreeze is intended as a biocide, but there's some debate as to whether or pumps like running in antifreeze mixtures. I'm fairly sure the pump won't care one way or the other myself.

Just don't use dyes, as they tend to separate out over time and accumulate inside waterblocks, which is a pain in the arse.

Hmmm so confused :(
Was definitely not gunna use dyes! Just get myself some coloured tubing instead.

I'll see what other people suggest.

Also will I need 2 rads for a i5 2500k and SLI gtx580s?

Intending to get a 120mmx4 rad, would that do fine?

There's a thread on here where a guy is using a thin 360mm radiator with two gtx580s and an i7 920. His temperatures aren't great, but they're usable. A 120.4 will do, but don't expect your processor to load at 60 degrees.

The two graphics cards put out 500W of heat, I would want that in a separate loop to the cpu. A 120.2 for the two cards, a separate loop with a 120.2 for the cpu will perform better than a single quad with everything in one loop.

A 120.4 should be fine to cool what you want. This is the thread JonJ was talking about. He's using a slim 120.3 so if you get a fat 120.4 it should be fine. What case are you going to put this in?

it will be fine with the 120.4 and 4-8 high static pressure fans in either pull or push/pull...eg 4 four on the rad pulling air through the rad = pull.... and 4 on either side pushing air through and pulling out the other is push/pull......that will easy handle your needs or just get a 360 rad pull or push/pull and get a h-50 or h-70 just for cpu

I'm no water expert but don't you mean de-ionised?

Distilled water is pure water with 99.9% of the minerals, bacteria etc removed, de-ionised has had its ions removed so it supposedly takes ions from wherever it can to rebalance itself.

I use distilled water and ptnuke phn.

The apache blacks are essentially the same as vipers right? Though they seem to reach a less max DBA.

Black would just look better on the rad next to my case.

I'll post back in here later with my final choice of items later and see if they're alright :)
