So, as we all know, there is quite a range when it comes to picture quality on bluray, largely from movies that were released previous to the birth of BR.

Alien v Predator in particular looks only marginally better than the DVD version. And we all like to show off the capabilities when someone who hasn't seen a bluray before comes round. :D

So if you could be so kind, rate your Bluray purchases out of 10 for image quality. :)

I've been holding off buying them this year due to the price, but that's coming down now so 2010 will be a good year for entertainment. :)

Ratatouille - 9/10
Wall-E - 9/10
Talladega Nights - 8/10
AvP - 4/10
300 - 7.5/10 (added grain annoyed me)
Die Hard 4.0 - 8/10

30 Days of Night, my friend and I both agreed it looked great. Although we both do prefer the 'pristine' look of blu-rays though. Which is why as above, we didn't like the grain in 300.

This looked amazing on DVD to be fair. Must have been to do with the lighting around where ever they shot it, it was crystal, much better than a lot of other DVD's I've watched.

Oh and for the thread, Watchmen, seemed like a good transfer.

We've just got a blu-ray player and I have no idea what to get, might get Serenity though.

Might? Just get it! Its an awesome film and the Blu-ray is packed with extras.

Can't really comment on the quality of the video but it looked fine to me.

I've got the 1st Matrix, hoping to be blown away with the quality. Turns out its no better than dvd. 2/10

Wow. Most places give it 10/10 for the quality.

Obviously, it's just my opinion. I thought the picture quality was no better than dvd. Perhaps there are different edtions of it? I didn't get the trilogy just bought the single blu ray.

MIGHT?! MIGHT?! Don't "might" get it. GET IT!! Got it for my birthday and the quality is stunning.

Film was OK to. ;)

District 9 is out on Monday. And DAMN am I excited. :p
DAMN! :D Very good film. Will be very good on BR.

Star Trek has to be a 9.5, it's nigh on perfect.
We just got a new 32inch LCD TV today and a Bluray player. We watched my copy of Star Trek for the inaugural screening and even though I've watched it before on my PC, this time it was stunning. Like being at the cinema but better; you can pause. :D

Lost Boys - 8/10 (Very surprised at the quality considering its age. The transfer is amazing, although doesn't quite compete with modern movies obviously)

Dark Knight - 10/10 (I use this movie to show off BluRay when people visit. Amazing, especially the city panning shots!)

Underworld 1+2 - 7.5/10 (Good in some parts, however because the movies are very dark, I find they don't really benefit from the transfer much.)

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - 3/10 (The poorest Bluray I have. Nearly identical to the DVD, except the desert part when the dark grainy effect disappears and its brighter.)

Bram Stoker's Dracula - 6.5/10 (Its OK, its nothing vastly different from the DVD, but the increase in quality is definitely noticeable. Recommended if you havent already got the DVD)

Apocalypto - 9/10 (Absolutely great! Even better if you have surround sound.)

Passion of the Christ - 8/10 (Very good considering there is a grainy effect. Nothing outstanding, although I guess the film wasn't made for Bluray in mind ;))

Close Encounters of the Third Kind - 5/10 (Not my first Bluray choice I have to say, still I can't really see anything that makes it appear worthy of a purchase if you already have it on DVD)

Predator - 4/10 (Not the best transfer, but not the worst either. I think everyone hoped it would have been better)

Kung Fu Hussle - 9.5/10 (Its hard to fault it. Its bright, colourful and absolutely crystal clear. Love it!)

Watchmen - 9/10 (This movie was given to me as a gift. I don't like the movie at all, however the quality is amazing!)

Interview with the Vampire - 7.5/10 (Quite good I suppose, although like Underworld the movie is very dark and muddy so its difficult to give it an accurate score)

Fifth Element - 8/10 (This is a good transfer up from DVD. It wont make your jaw drop, but its still impressively detailed. The taxi scene was great! :D)

Terminator 2 - 8/10 (Tempted to give it a 7.5 but thought it was a bit mean. Its a very good transfer up from the DVD, and considering its not the newest kid on the block, its pretty damn good!)

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children - 9.5/10 (I bought this in one of those buy 1 get 1 free deals. Its hard to fault anything about it, its smooth, colourful, fast, bright and incredibly detailed. But then its CGI, its kind of like cheating to me so no 10/10)

Pan's Labyrinth - 9/10 (Very nice quality, can't really say much more.)

Planet Earth - 10/10 (Beautiful I'm sure everyone will agree! Thought about giving it a 9.5 because there is a difference in quality between certain shots, however thats unfair considering the conditions and environments they had to film in! :p)

I've got some more blurays that I haven't watched yet. I'll post my mini reviews when I get round to it :)

Interested in getting all the above so happy to hear they are very good quality.
