*The Bluray Quality Thread*

Reading the summary of District 9 it seems to be another tiresome "moral" film. I'm hoping there's more to it than that? Not gonna read the actual plot incase I watch it.

I may have missed it but to my knowledge no mention of the band of brothers on bluray?
i could imagine it being pretty damn sweet, havnt got a blu ray player yet so havnt botherd making the purchase though i have just finished my annual crimbo dvd rerun of the series.

Heroes season 1 and 2 are the best picture quality blu-ray i own, the others disappoint when i compared heroes to them.

If you want a Blu for picture quality definitely get I, Robot. The film isn't too bad either :P

Most if not all Disney Blu's are excellent quality too, especially the Narnia series.

Eastern Promises - 9.5/10 very high quality and a great film to boot. Only downside is that you have to watch a fully naked man wrestle in a shower in glorious HD :p

Well after checking out the IMAX scenes from The Dark Knight I have to say hands down those specific scenes have blown everything else I have come across out of the water, truly mind boggling.

I would LOVE to have a blue ray movie that is FULL Imax rather than in specific shots.

Has anyone picked up a bunch of blurays from the Gamestation clearance sale that has been going on? most of them at £3.98 & £4.98.

Bagged myself the following this week all brand new.

Predator £4.98
Transformers 2 Disc edition £4.98
Blow £3.98
Shoot em up £3.98
Terminator 3 £4.98
The Dark Knight £4.98
Resident Evil 3 £3.98
Resident Evil 2 £4.99 (Toys R Us sale)
Black Hawk Down £4.99 (Toys R Us sale)
Lucky Number Slevin £3.98
The Departed £3.98
The Rock £4.98

Band of Brothers does look good on Blu-ray, however they used to much DNR on it and that shows up when you compare it to the superior Japanese HD-DVD version.

"Inglourious ********" is reference quality.

"Punisher: War Zone" has an astoundingly weighty and effective sound track.

Getting "District 9" next week, but I've told it's astounding too.

Oh, how could I forget?

Top Gear: Polar Special - 8/10

Loses 2 points for the bits where a standard def camera is used and for the TG cameramen being a bit OTT with effects as per usual. :p

But there are some gorgeous shots.

Finally got a ps3 so I can enter in to the world of Blu Rays, I'm intent on getting Band of Brothers since it's so dirt cheap atm, District 9 will also be a must.

Can anyone tell me if Fight Club is worth getting? It's my all time favourite movie so I already have it on DVD but if the quality is much better then I will get that too :)

Wall-E - 9/10

Wall-E: 10/10

Wall-E - 9.5/10

Wall-E - 9/10 beautiful to watch, second best of my limited collection.

Got this today and not only was it one of the funniest and best (animated) films I've ever seen the quality of the film in BR was supoib!:cool: Thanks Bart Simpson for that quote. :p I honestly think that 9/10 is too low a score for this film. I think the bidding has to start at 95%. :)

Hardware- A film i loved from many years ago and a superb transfer.
District 9- You wont be disappointed with the quality, as to the film half my family liked it, the other half hated it!! quite a marmite film imo.
Chronicles of Riddick - Another top transfer, the colours really shine through in this one.
Equilibrium - Loved this film but the transfer isn't much above dvd.
The Matrix trilogy - Not overly impressed, couldn't see much difference from dvd.
