If by "better" you mean completely ignoring the Expanded universe and writing their own story even though George Lucas started writing Episode VII in 2011 then sure why not I guess. That is of course assuming that we put up with them ignoring Chewie is dead, and the timeframe they are setting it in is right in the middle of the Yuuzhzan Vong war!!!

I don't.
You don't seem to understand that disney want to appeal to a global audience of all ages, add in merchandising, and make some profits.
I don't mind them doing this, but I do want to see a good story.
This involves hopefully tearing up anything Lucas has written, there was such a god awful hash made of films one thru three, and the utter rot he created for indy four, it is best he never writes again.

The expanded universe can be included or excluded as long as there is something that fits a star wars universe.
