For the life of me I cannot get that background one to work, load image, hit apply, nothing happens and im just stuck with the defaults ones on the left panel.

Also why does the tile opacity effect the wallpaper going so dark I cannot see it!?

Thats odd, Have you tried a few images to see if its not the file type you are using? Also are you dragging the blue lines on the preview?

No idea about the 2nd question I haven't used it.

Just download the file,run it and it installs it to your gadgets menu.
