Meguiars Lambswool Wash Mitt £7.62
Sonus Perfect Shine Drying Towel £7.62
Meguiars #16 Paste Wax £10.17
Dodo Juice - Born to be mild shampoo 250ml £7.62

Basket Total: £38.80

Gonna order this soon as I've just got my first car (Suzuki Swift 1.5GLX) and I wanna look after it properly (when it stops raining...) Can anyone else recommend me some clay, other than quikclay as its not in stock that would be half decent. Is there anything else I might be missing?

Further tip: Don't use Wonder Wheels (which is what it looks like you have done - the same happened to me :o)!

this is why detailers bang on about what wheel cleaner to use

Some of them are highly acidic and would really be more suitable for cleaning concrete than wheels

Generally, watch out for the ones that say they cant be used on chrome wheels, these are the highly acidic ones and they arent designed to clean your wheels every week. Use it sparingly.

Just to illustrate why i keep banging on about Collinite, take a look at the pic, this was polished & waxed 4 weeks ago, and ive done 3k miles since then and despite all the crappy weather, its still come up spangly....

Bah, why do bmw pads leave a trail of dust on your wheels after a week whereas other cars don't.

Shiny though!

This is my first attempt at a big clean... What I did...
Initial Clean with hose then Shampoo and sponge to get dirt off..
Then Shammy clothe dry
T-Cut and Small ammount of spraying to bumpers and areas around locks and car handles
Allowed to dry and then swashed the car down again..
shammy clothe dry
Polish and rub off polish
Tyre blacked as well

anyway here is is.. sorry about the darkness of the picture!

They all dust tbh.

While im at it, does any know of a good wheel wax (or is that marketing con?), Ive got 2 new front wheels coming tomorrow, and I'd like to coat the inner part of the rim with something that makes them easier to clean.

How come yours are so clean after so many miles? I assume you did brake a few time :p

No my point was, after applying Collinite (wax), and doing all those miles after all that time, all it takes is a quick wash to get that 'just waxed' look:p

Oh!

I get a similar look from a good zymol shampoo wash every 2-3 weeks after the initial SRP+EGP :p this was on the old car though which did react better to shinyness so will have to see how silver is in 2-3 weeks!

At the mo when you look at the sides in the wing mirrors whilst driving you can see all reflections nicely - should stay like this for some months with just normal washes!

SRP/AGP is good but it doesnt last for me, well not with the mileage I do.The picture doesnt do the car justice tbh (its a pic from my phone) it really is gleaming:p

seal your wheels with poorboys wheel sealant and all your brake dust problems will be solved

The problem is your immaculate, shiney, pristine alloys are filthy after 10 miles not that the dust damages the rim. Unless the dust wont stick to the poorboys sealant?

it wont, it's designed to endure high temperature fallout, unlike normal waxes, so the dust can't burn in to it so just washes off easily and doesn't stick as much as normal

I've found that the dust still happens but it doesn't stick as well so a quick blast with the hose pipe can shift most of it :)

Just thought i'd like to add something to this thread, popped into wilkos the other day and saw some easy dry stuff, presumed it was like the old flash rinse stuff so got a bottle and used it for the first time tonight and wash off car as normal then go over with this stuff and worked wonders, came up watermark free finish. The stuff is called jeyes easy spray and is in the car section. 4 quid per bottle and best thing is it didnt seem to use very much so I reckon should get at least 10 washes out of the stuff.

Earlier on in this thread when I asked about getting the car cleaned (detailed) by someone else I was recommended to do it myself due to the satisfaction. Well today went out and spent a fortune (well to me it was as it was just cleaning stuff) and then spent 3-4 hours cleaning/polishing/waxing the car.

Does it look good? Yes, bloody good. Did I feel satisfaction in doing it myself? No! :p

Lots of hard work indeed and I'm sure its going to get rained on tonight. :(
