The DA-21E is a Orbital polisher with a 21mm throw area for max coverage and is supposedly equivalent to the the Rupes polisher which all professionals seem to use..., price seems to be good. Why would you buy something more expensive ?

Gtechniq C2v3 for body work, spray on wipe off and people claiming they have had it last 6 months. I don't know of a spray on wipe off for wheels though.

DAS6 is the go to dual action polisher, I was very happy with mine and only got rid of it when I bought a rotary.

Haven't used it but their other DA polishers are very good as they are claiming it is an improvement so should be good.

Looking at machine polishers: Any personal recommendations on brands/models?

Looking on ebay, the prices seem to vary massively. Am I right in thinking a random orbital polisher with a decent power output is the way forward?

My 'detailing' routines are few and far between but typically consists of snow foam, shampoo, clay, polish, wax...so I'm prepared to spend some time on the odd occasion but need a polisher to help with the buffing and to take the paint work that extra step.

Budget: As cheap as possible for something relatively decent; it'll get used 3 times a year :p

I've got a Silverline rotary polisher. It's fantastic and cheap. Only downsides are that you will definitely need to buy a new backing plate to stop buffer hop (to be honest, most supplied backing plates are crap) and you will need to beef up your muscles because it's pretty heavy!

Apart from that it's excellent.

I use Dodo Juice Diamond White wax on my (silver) car - this wax is claimed to be suited to light coloured and white cars.

For a black car, Dodo Juice make a 'Purple haze' version which is claimed to be more suited to darker/black colours.

Is this just marketing bs and can I crack on and use the Diamond White on a black car, or is it really not suitable?

Thanks!

After some product advice.
I did try emailing 'cleanyourcar.co.uk' as i was going to buy from there, but two emails and no reply.....

Anyway,
Getting a new small hatchback but like to keep my cars looking good.
I am guessing from the dealers, it will just have had the usual pre sales polish with whatever, Autoglym or Autosmart probably?

Is it sufficient at that stage to just put on a couple of layers of pure wax? i have some Collinite 915.
Worth getting a sealant first?

I also want to get some glass cleaner/polish/water repellant, and some alloy sealant and tyre dressing.

What are the current recommendations for all of the above?

Having just picked up a new family car (Mazda CX-5, 14 Plate, 4 months old / 7k miles) I would have normally got my brothers extensive cleaning kit and washed/clayed/polished/sealed/waxed., but he was a bit busy, so I've just been trying some newer products that are supposed to be time saving and review well.

1. Farcle G3 Clay Mitt
2. Farcle G3 Quick Detailer
3. Armor All Shield (sealer)

I have to say the G3 Clay Mitt is outstanding, I washed with the usual Autoglym shampoo, then used the Mitt, which despite the car not being almost new, the paintwork felt surprisingly draggy and the mitt certainly gave it an absolute glass feel finish..
The Quick Detailer is also great, I used it as a clay lube, and microfibre'd it off immediately after claying an area and it gives it a very clean look, even works great on trim too..

But the best one was the Armor All Shield, their waxes are rubbish, but the Shield was well reviewed on Autoexpress, so I thought I'd give it a go, and it is very easy to apply, ridiculously so, and easy to buff off. It even seals the glass/bumpers/trim really well..

Autoexpress seemed to think the Armor All shield outlasted the Collinite which I'd normally use, so I'll see how it goes, but having the black trim looking so uniform and the wheels really having a deep sealed shine on them has surprised me, normally it takes ages and multiple products to get that finish.

Hi

Looking for some leather cleaner for the white Recaros in my new st 220. They're looking a little grey for my tastes.

Washed the civic today. Wheels were embedded with rusty pad deposit. Amazed at how good iron x is

However we've had it a year and I've not got round to giving it a proper clean and wax which is a shame as I think it would look great waxed up. Prob just clean up with SRP then get some collenite for long term protection. I'm too lazy now to wash cars properly.

Would you recommend anything else. What about Gtechniq?
