Yep thats the one, I get mine from there as they are local to me.

From their website is appears they are based in Huddersfield - do they actually have a shop there or is that purely for correspondence? I drive through Huddersfield somewhat frequently to meet my industrial sponsors so could save a few quid on postage fees that way.

That's where their unit is but I don't know if you can just rock up and go in. Send them a message on their website, CYC are usually quick at replying.

Yer you can pick your stuff up directly with them, you can order online and just tell them you will pick the order up in person. Good set of lads there.

wanting to get back into cleaning my car its been years as I haven't had anywhere to wash it so my car got condemned to "hand car washes" down the road.

is there anywhere that does a basic kit? All i have is a pressure washer I have found a place local to me that has a good selection but was thinking for ease just purchasing a big bag of everything.

I was using mainly Autoglym items before

on a side note I will be removing my god awful stripes at the weekend and i know it will have horrendous ghosting. whats the best polish for getting rid of these? or should I just take it to a garage for it to be machine polished out

This arrived today:

Bouncers Black Series - Check the Fleck, it was highly recommended from DW for pearl / metallic paint. So I have purchase a few different ones to test.:p:D

I'm waiting for all my other cleaning products to arrive now.

Autoglym is still very highly regarded, you could always get a AG starter kit from Halfrauds.

Or just hop onto cleanyourcar.co.uk and get it all shipped at one time. This is what I went with, and what I'd recommend based on a fair bit of review reading, various sources and forum user inputs.

Beginner/starter kit:-

Cleaners

Meguiars APC cleaner (great for interior/leather/engine bay, bit expensive initially as pretty much only available in a US Gallon bottle but will last forever as a 10:1 dilution is generally more than enough).
Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo and Conditioner
Bilt Hamber Clay Bar
Either: FinishKare 1000p or Collinite 845
Wheel Cleaner - I use Turtle Wax, cos its cheap and effective, but stuff like Dragon's Breath etc is really good (but commands a price premium).

Accessories

Valet Pro - Inch Round Wheel Brush (2 of these, one for wheels and one for interior).
Wheel woolie (Expensive, but so good for getting at the dish and behind spokes, especially the angled ones).
Microfibre wash mitt (all much of a muchness, really. Get lambswool if you have £££, supposedly slightly better).
Sponge Applicator pads
Two or three buckets (third for wheels only, but optional).
Microfibre drying towel (Clean Your Car's own brand one has some great reviews).

Hi guys, my current polish (autfinesse tripple) bottle is about to finish. Thinking of getting a glaze this time since summer is on the way. I have a sapphire black 330ci so while searching on the net many recommend either :

black hole
50 cal cover up
amigo primo (?)

Any recommendations?

I currently use collinite 467 as my winter wax. I still have a bottle poorboy's e-xp. Would that be better on top of any of the glazes above or am I better off getting a different wax. In the summer for me it's more looks > durability

It kind of depends on the condition of your paint. I've found Amigo leaves it really glossy and slick but if you have typical swirly paint something 50Cal or Black Hole with helped hide those imperfections better.

If I was going to buy something, I'd get Amigo for excellent paint, and 50 cal for average paint. However, Tripple has always provided a superb base for me...

And yes, you will be able to get much better waxes for summer use but I'll leave that for some else to recommend as I tend to use spray sealants... plus it depends on your budget.

Well I bought the car back in July and it's clear that its been to car washes in the past. Since I've owned it I have always used the 2b method/lambswool mitt etc and I never take my cars to the car wash. I would say the paint is in average condition.

Picked up a wookies fist :D (for a fiver too!). Can't wait to try it tomorrow. Think I am also going to pick up some 20L buckets in a pound shop to replace my 10L buckets.

Given the muck on the car I think I will give it a good soak with snowfoam tomorrow.

OMG, this wash mitt is fantastic. Glides across the paintwork. Not only is it fantastic at picking up the dirt, all of the hairs open up as soon as they hit the rinse bucket releasing all of the grime. Think I will order another of these!

Edit: seems the price has gone upto £13 now and most between £20-30. What a bargain at £5 including shipping.

Just had a google...looks like the dooka wash pad but in mitt form lol.

Is it machine washable?

Great thread, new to cleaning my car this well and loving it. Can someone recommend a decent polish. Its for my wifes car that's in decent nick but always been to the car wash. I will snow foam, 2 bucket wash with Maguiars Gold shampoo/conditioner and I want to finish with the Bilt double speed wax. I am just unsure what polish to use pre this wax? The car has never been polished so the colour has dulled a little and has no real scratches on it. Thanks

Where was the mitt from CaptainRave?

I need a new washing device, was going to go for a dooka pad.

It is basically a dooka pad in mitt form. Should ideally be washed by hand and combed after each use. I washed mine with hair shampoo and rinsed it really well. Also shouldn't be stored in a bag and left damp or exposed to biological washing powders or any other enzyme cleaner.

It is the best fitting mitt I have used and the volume of water it soaks up is impressive. Must be a good few Litres taken out of the bucket each time. I certainly won't be using anything other than a wool type mitt/sponge in future. Amazing how gently it glides over the paint.

Picked up a couple of 15L buckets (not quite as big as I wanted, but a lot cheaper than the bigger buckets). Have also labelled them wash and rinse :)
