I think it's the buffing dry that I fail with.

Thanks for the link Dave may have to try it, I already use Stoner Invisible Glass as the polish which I find fantastic and generally idiot-proof apart from the inside of the windscreen :(

Use an APC first to clean it with a fresh MF cloth and this will remove any grease/traffic film. Then use a fresh waffleweave with a light misting of screen cleaner (I use Chemical Guys glass cleaner) and buff dry with a 3rd fresh cloth.

After you've done that you should be good for a few thousand miles assuming you run AC to avoid it getting condensation on the screen.

Why would he get traffic film on the inside of the windscreen. :p

I have the same problem. Thought I got it perfect one evening and then the next morning the sun hits it.

I can get the exterior glass perfectly clean, but struggle with the inside of the windscreen.

I'm glad it's not just me who seems incapable of cleaning glass!

Try this - it is much better than Windowlene, AJAX glass cleaner and all these other sprays you can pick up in the shops where you always seem to be chasing smears around until you give up.
I was so impressed I went back and bought 2 more in case they stop selling it and last time I looked, the bottle is no longer purple so hoped it has not changed.
I used it with ripped up old soft cotton T-shirt fabric (not washed with a softener) and it works beautifully.

I've bought a few bits,

Snow foam lance
Autofinesse Avalance snow foam
Dodo born to be mild shampoo
Dodo Purple haze wax
Bilberry wheel cleaner
KKD Silverback drying towel
Dodo plush buffing towel
Dodo supernatural applicator pad
Two buckets+grit guards
Nilfisk E145 (from the outlet site)
Swissvax wheel brush
Gtechniq C6 matte dash
Meguiars tyre gel and applicator
Lambs wool mitt

Because of your blower bringing air through and blowing it on the windscreen?

Today washed, clayed, tar removed, polished and have half waxed with collinite after recommendations on here!

Been a pain in the bum though as its been on and off rain, so have been drying polishing etc!

Just got the drivers side roof and bonnet to wax then that should last a nice long time with the Sonax bsd stuff also recommended, looks lurrrvly :D

Interesting point about using APC to clean windows. I recently grabbed a bottle of APC instead of glass cleaner to clean some mirrors around the house and was amazed at how much easier it was to get a streak free finish compared to the glass cleaner.

Turns out a dark coloured car is harder to keep looking presentable than a white one. The dirt in the rain is killing me :( And the dust! :(

I'm currently deciding what ceramic coating to pursue...

Hoovered the car a couple of hours ago and it's filthy, it's probably done 20 miles since it was last washed :(

Current OEM brake pads are really dusty too... Uprated less dusty ones when they need changing :(

Spent a few hours polishing one side of the Clio with the DA, using Meguiars M105 on an orange Hex Logic pad, Menzerna 2200 on another orange Hex Logic pad, Menzerna 3800 on a white Hex Logic pad and then finally using Collinite 845 on a Black Hex Logic Pad. Best I can seem to do on this colour, it's not very rewarding.

Will do the other side tomorrow/next week, and then the front, rear and roof.

How bad was the paint to start with, a decent 1 step polish will tackle most swirls.

Not too bad actually. On my old car, one pass would rid most swirls and scratches. This paint seems rock hard. I still didn't manage to fully get some of the scratches out (and I couldn't feel them with my nail!).

On my list of things to buy is that Cut Max and some more pads, maybe a heavier cutting pad next time.

Been using a new mitt today, Gtechniq's WM2.

Thoroughly recommend it, I ended up using half the water/shampoo mix I would normally use because the mitt has an internal sponge which keeps the water on the car as you're using it. Once you've cleaned as much as you think you can on one side of the mitt, you can easily flick it over one handed and use the other side and suds keep on coming out. Plus the surface is super plush with fibres so any dirt is going to get easily trapped.

I was using it with Meguiars Gold class shampoo which suds up really well, so an ideal combo.

I've heard great things about that style mitt, very similar to the microfibre madness one.

I however have always used a dooka pad, apart from a megs one early on and don't think I could ever go back.
