Guy across uses shampoo in the foam gun that comes with the washer. That's the closest I've seen anyone else doing it.
Even he stares at me doing it but I think it's more of a "how the hell do you get it so thick and sticking like that" than anything else.

My neighbour opposite is as into detailing as I am and will clean both their cars with the works once a week normally.

I haven't been able to get him onto Autofoam yet though.

Yeah my neighbor uses his standard karcher snow foam gun.. other one just rubs a dry sponge against the paintwork with very little shampoo if any at all :D it sounds horrendous and his paint is in a shocking state.

I actually winced. Argh. That poor car.

I don't have a pressure washer yet, but I have an IK Foam Sprayer that I'll go over the car with first (BH Autofoam) and then hose off after a bit of a dwell before doing a contact wash. The foam probably doesn't do much (if anything) without a pressure wash afterwards, but it makes me feel better, especially in winter. I also clean the car every week and I think just that in itself makes my neighbours look at me weirdly.

The guy next door has a four year old Vauxhall Corsa that I've seen clean a grand total of once since he moved in and I guess that is because he took it to Vauxhall to be serviced and it had a complimentary clean by them, so that is his stance on car cleaning. It is sat there now two thirds caked in dirt, it is meant to be black, but from the bottom of the windows down it is solid brown. Parked not too far away is my 16 year old BMW approaching 200k miles which looks spotless (and new) in comparison. People have other priorities which is fine, but cleaning the car once a year and spending probably 8-10 months of that (especially in winter) getting your hands and clothes dirty every time you get in and out of the car is another level to me.

Just wait until I'm off work next week and I give mine a clay/decon, polish and wax. That'll probably blow their minds :p

Weather forecast looks good tomorrow.. anyone else looking forward to getting the sahara sand off, my car looks terrible !!
Also got a couple of new products to try out..
Did this a few days ago (had to do it twice as the light rain on Friday morning still had a small amount of the dust in it!). Be very careful I did mine by hand with just water several times & a very soft partially damp cloth yet it still managed to cling onto the paintwork so I got several light scratches which now need buffing out :(

going to have to give that Optimum No Rinse a go (Waterless wash)

id like something for more heavily soiled car too

any ideas ?
maybe something for a foam cannon ?

ONR isn’t primarily a waterless wash, it’s mainly for rinseless which isn’t the same thing. You can use it for waterless washing, but just make sure you know what it is you want.

oh

erm i might be confused a bit then
ONR is good for spot cleaning only ?

not sure how to clean entire car without a hose and bucket (away from home) ?

ONR can clean the whole car, even the interior. As long as you've got something to put the water in you could buy a 5ltr bottle of de-ionised/distilled water and add 20ml of ONR to it, the advised dilution ratio being 256:1 which is around 4ml per litre.

This video will give you an idea.

Very simply put the primary application for ONR would be with a bucket and sponge* as per normal. You don’t hose the car before, or after. You wash with sponge and then wipe dry straight away. I.e. Rinseless

A waterless wash just involves a spray bottle and sponge, and then wiping dry.

You can use ONR that way, but I personally wouldn’t use it that way on a car very dirty, or even moderately dirty (personal preference). Whereas the rinseless use for ONR is still pretty safe as you’re using quite a bit of cleaning solution from the bucket not just a spray bottle.

* Sponge, noodle mit, microfibre. Pick your flavour

Optimum do make a waterless wash, it's called Opti-Clean. I've never used it but it's supposed to also act as a very good pre-wash treatment for very dirty cars before an ONR wash.

For washing I've got some thick edgeless cloths from the rainforest but it doesn't look like they sell them any more, for drying I've got a few different Wrag Company towels.

I heard this post. The feels.
Haha..

Yup it's bad, the scrubbing is hard to listen to :D

On another note, crown had a wash this weekend and a coat of Sam's detailing spray wax which is a first, for a spray wax to actually lay like wax, cure and haze up! Interesting product but so easy to use and the gloss at the end!!

Sadly the paint is tired on the old girl and I don't think I've got much left to correct it beyond what it is at now.

Extremely soft too so any little blip results in marks.

Would be nice to get it resprayed with proper two stage finish and thick clear coat.

Was great weather yesterday so managed to do a proper clean, decontamination and top up protection on the C63. Unfortunately wheels are starting to corode and I've got one that's curbed. They're 18 inch diamond cut OEM. Need to get them refurbed but would you get diamond cut or just standard powder coated? Spoke to my local place and they recommend just getting them powder coated? Any thoughts?

It seems like you and I have a very similar dilemma...

Lovely weather over the weekend, had a good chance for a proper clean and a top up of protection in a couple of areas

Polish Angel Gold Zirkon (gold infused carnauba spray wax) - Lovely gloss as always and nice warmth
Polish Angel Superspoort PTFE Wheel Wax - superb glossy finish
Gyeon Interior - new product to me, gave the interior trim a once over and will see how it performs
Britemax Metal twins - used the cleaner and sealant to get some of the road crap off the exhaust tips and put a layer of protection down
Gyeon Tire - 2 coats 24hours apart

Regarding the wheels, mine sound similar to your in that in a couple of places the clear coat is broken and they're no longer looking their best/will start to get worse.

Personally, I'll have the face diamond cut again to retain the OEM look. There was a thread recently on Pistonheads of another C63 owner who had bought a car with the wheels powder coated and they just didn't look right to my eye. I think if you're going to go that route, it's important to accept that in a couple of years of regular year round use that they'll need some form of refurbishment again, although you can mitigate it slightly with a ceramic coating, regular cleaning of the barrels and not using very strong acid/alkali wheel cleaners. I wont just be using a local place though, I used a highly rated place in Birmingham for the R32 and Lepsons have recently opened a branch in Wolverhampton so I'll likely use them next time.

I had my R32 wheels refurbished with the factory diamond cut lip and it really set them off
