Posting this for those of you here who (unlike me) weren't lucky enough to grow up in the 80's:

It's a fully carbon (inc wheels, drive shafts, literally everything), 930kg, mid engine, 4wd, twin sequential turbos, 4cyl, 1.8, awesome Lancia ECV producing 600bhp.

And they made only 1.

However GrpB and GrpS were cancelled, so everyone thought this was crushed, and nobody's seen this for about 25 years, but here it is. The engine itself is a straight 4 and called a triflux:

It has the inlet in the middle, and exhaust ports on both sides. Each side of the cylinder has an inlet and exhaust valve with a single cam controling both inlet and exhaust for either side. If ever a vehicle deserved to be in the "Car Porn Thread" then this is it.

For the Lancia above (and other cars) why is the engine leaned over? I understood in normal FWD/front engined cars it's to fit under the bonnet/room for turbo/exhaust etc. But in that custom rally car, couldn't it be flat if they wanted it to be? Or is there a technical reason that angle is preferred? (which I seem to remember there being for some reason?)

Nice though!

I even in road cars I dont think its for packaging reasons. It is for lowering the CoG, its what makes boxer engines so good.

Bugatti EB110. One of my fave cars and pretty much forgotten unfortunately :(
Quad Turbo V12 in 1991 - just goes to show they were crazy when its comes to making cars back then. I've never seen one in real life (only 126 were ever made) Definitely one of those bucket list cars to see before I die!
