Currently running an old Q660 2.4. with DDR2 on a asus PRO.
The system has served me well as a media server for plex and storage but sadly its dying of old age. The challenge is to help list possible replacement parts to bring this ATX system up to date for as little cost as possible.
What I don’t need; harddrives, PSU, GPU, case.
What I think is going to be required; RAM, motherboard, processer.
I would like a cheap but good Intel processer with built on board graphic processing.
A motherboard which has many SATA connections for harddrives.

Can anyone help?

Hi Stuild

The case - BitFenix Ronin Tower Case - Black
The PSU - Corsair Builder Series CXM 430W
The GPU is currently an old 570 but because I want a low power system for streaming and storage I wish to only use the graphics from processor. something like this, Intel Pentium Dual Core G4400 Skylake Desktop Processor/CPU

The g4560 kabylake has hyperthreading which s performs nearly the same as the I3 6100 Skylake.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £209.87
(includes shipping: £9.90)

Thanks mickyflinn

I've been out of touch with this market so your input is most welcome.
I had not considered micro motherboards.

G4560 is a good suggestion, widely regarded as the best deal for budget CPUs at the moment.

If you're running mainly the iGPU, also consider the G4600 for slightly more, which gets you the HD630 instead of the HD610 in the G4560 as well.

update

I have gone ahead and ordered

Team Group Elite 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C16 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black

Gigabyte GA-B250M-D3H Intel B250 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard

Intel Pentium G4600 3.60GHz (Kaby Lake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail

Iv gone for the G4600 because it was in stock and it may come in handy if i wish to build a HTPC in the future.
