The Cheese Thread

French Comté for me and a good unpasteurised vintage cheddar...

And don't forget a good bottle of french red, Saint-Emilion Château Cheval Blanc in my case!

Sussex Vegatarian Pasta Cheese

The new vegetarian/vegan "cheese" ive been seeing is coconut oil and soya based.

Not even with a bargepole.

I don't mind meat free food but vegetable based food sold as imitation dairy and meat I see as a ridiculous answer to a ridiculous problem.

colston bassett is probably my favourite goto blue cheese
Had some Dewlay Nicky nook blue this weekend which was nice.
I also like Delways creamy Lancashire.
Booths supermarkets have superb cheese counters.

I see Black Bomber has already been mentioned - usually easy to find. The new(ish) Red Storm is excellent if you like a Red Leicester with a bit more taste.

Best cheddar I've ever had is Godminster Vintage - good, strong, powerful flavour but then becomes creamy (rather than rough).

They did some Black Friday offers last year and you could delay delivery until just before Christmas. Perfect with a glass of good port.

Love cheese, every cheese has its place whether it is fruitty light cheeses to cheeses so blue you can count them as one of your five a day!

My fav cheese stems from my Milanese roots - Gorgonzola. Now available in almost all supermarkets though not quite at the same strength as what you get from an Italian deli. I absolutely adore it and is a flavour that never gets old. Always has a place in my fridge despite the girlfriends protests. Strong enough that it gives your tongue a peppery sensation on first taste!

got some longman mature organic cheddar cheese this week and its delicious but like so many aged cheeses has the crystals in it, unlike cheaper not as aged supermarket stuff and not a big fan of the crystals I think they spoil the texture, but the taste is great.

Just had some Comte from morrisons as it was in the bargain bin, quiet nice taste but not strong enough for me.

I like Cheddar cheese, the stronger the better so I like Vintage then extra mature, I won't buy any weaker. Double Gloucester is good and Red Leicester. Mozzarella for pizza.

Any other cheese I'm wary of, scared to try, and can't even stomach the smell of, like Camembert.

Me and cheese could be another discovery thread like my curry thread.

Strong smelling cheeses like Camembert and Brie actually have a very mild and creamy taste, nothing like the smell at all. Try all the cheeses, what have you got to lose?
