We've a stoney, taupey Matt paint effect MFC carcase with a painted solid shaker front in a similar but not identical colour.
The carcases look fab and are holding up well.
We've also had hand painted shaker in-frame fronts on a really dark wood effect carcase and this looked really tidy.
I've found plain old oak or light timber effect interiors to age badly and white or cream MFC interiors haven't lasted well for us.
What's been mentioned is, if the carcase finish contrasts with the door finish, the option to ensure the front edging of the carcases is sympathetic to the door colour is quite important to me to prevent flashes of the carcase colour showing through in the door gaps. I'm quite particular about this kind of thing now after getting it wrong in the past!
