The Continental

I enjoyed it for what it was, but I thought John Wick was a one of a kind, the ultimate assassin as it were and now we've got a bunch of guys of similar ability. Bit of a weak cop out imo..

I thought it was great - more of the same. The end line sold it for me, much like making difficult choices to protect the ones you care about - tying it back to JW and Winston later in life.

Son didn't enjoy, trying too hard, crap CGI etc.

So just shows everyone's opinion is different - looking forward to Ep 2.

Ep 2 - very cool and stylish. Building up to a big battle, enjoying this!

Not sure what starsky and hutch were doing there though - anybody else spot them?

Same enjoying the show but please for the love of .... get someone to teach that man in Chinatown how to at.least pronounce Cantonese Chinese properly. It's awful I am fluent and even I hardly understand what wtf he meant to be saying.

Saw ep1.
Pretty good, stylish in the way the world should be after the JW films.
I like it's the 70s.
Will catch the rest soon.

Very good so far, great soundtrack as well.

Favourite moment this week

Yen going nuts to Nilsson in the abandoned Cinema lit by the muzzle flashes on the mini Uzi and shotgun

Only criticism is the image is a bit too "muggy", watched it on Prime and then watched it elsewhere and both the same.

not sure why so many rating. the budget isnt great. the kinda doing a cheap sin city 70s vibe which isnt bad if done right. sound mixing is terrible. will watch but its not amazing.

This is exactly how I felt.
I kinda view it like yes there’s lots of assassins but Wick is the best there ever is/was. He’s on another level. That’s why they call him the boogie man etc.

It is a bit of a muddled world idea but probably best not to over analyse it. Personally I thought the biggest downside to the films was when they invented the bullet proof suit jackets

I thought the Continental was decent, but it didn’t look as stylish or slick as it should have (low budget effect maybe). I also thought some of the acting wasn’t great, like Lou (?) who owns the dojo place.

If it was a 6 parter we probably would have given up..

In some ways I enjoyed this more than the later JW films, really liked the delve into the lore although could have done with more and less endless invicible assassin. The final episode had some ropey bits but overall felt fresh and the lead role is decent along with Mel Gibson who was pretty solid.

Feels like there's space for Season 2, no idea if anymore are planned.

Finally got around to getting this off my watch list, compared to the John Wick films this feels slow but that works to it's advantage. The casting choice for young Winston did well and he had some of the mannerisms down.

The female twin was the highlight of the 3 episodes for me.
