Really good didn't take my eyes of it 8.5/10
Looks great extremely cliché predictable story but it's FINE
Comic book levels of realism. It's basically a comic story......

It's good deffo recommend it...

District 9, Elysium, chappie......
It even feels like some reused props and assets (guns) ?

Yep it's a fine film... I'd love some deeper back story....world building.

It's like a mix of every Vietnam war film with every cliché trope possible crossed with the golden child, short circuit and even Avatar.

I just started watching the video but a comment caught my eye. They cut 3 hours of footage from this film. The directors cut if it exists will be interesting

Edit: not sure if the extra 3 hours of footage has any post processing or CGI but will be interesting to see the cut content.

Most movies assembly cuts are 5-6 hours. This is normal.

7.5/10

Great visuals, great acting by Washington. Sadly the story is just a Mish mash of other sci-fi films so it's really predictable.

Just myself, wife and 2 other randoms in the cinema tonight, in a screen that can easily fit 100+ people

7.5/10 for me. Visually it's great and kind of what I imagine the World will actually look like in 40-50 years.

Story seemed quite rushed in places (considering the 2 hour+ running time). Particularly towards the end when it zipped through
They get taken, they can't kill the kid so get Joshua to do it (?!), then the ambulance, suddenly they are emerging in to the space port, then they manage to get on the last spaceship, then get to the NOMAD etc.

So yeah, I agree the story was a bit of a let down, and it probably needed more scenes of the two of them bonding.

Washington was also the kiss of death. Literally everywhere he went loads of people/robots died - It was almost comical.

Yeah that last finale and getting him to do the deed....

What the actual? It's like, in all honesty, some of the stupidest, dumbest, worst, completely ridiculous set of decisions and events I've seen strung together, But, I didn't even mind it, just ripped it apart afterwards....

Fire and forget missiles? Nope.
Missiles as slow as busses and as big as tower blocks.... America.....dumb

Suspend belief.....

Good review above. I watched this today and thought it was excellent. Thoroughly engaging throughout, and I was so tired I was almost willing it to be pants so I could nap. It wasn’t, and I didn’t :p

Well worth a watch. The actress who plays Alphie was incredible.

As said above the production design was just great. The vehicles/tanks/weapons etc were all just very cool.

One thing I meant to say about it - What a great needle drop when Radiohead kicks in as they are about to infiltrate for the first time.

And I don't even particularly like the band :D

The visuals where gorgeous, the story was horrifically bad and made absolutely no sense borderline stupid.
I listened to an interview with the director and he basically said his favourite movies are visual, such as Blade Runner, Akira and he specifically singled out Baraka, and he wishes he could make movies without needing to pitch a script to a studio.

He really didn't seem to care much about the script/story.

Also they were hampered a lot as to where they could shoot by Covid, so most of it ended up being in Thailand.

Looked beautiful and was an utterly awful film.
Why were there replicas housed in the NOMAD?
Why a replica specifically of the lovely Gemma Chan?
The kid was the weapon against NOMAD? Er no, It just needed someone to detonate a missile within the NOMAD missile ring to take it down. Eh?!
ICBM and GPS no longer available in this technologically wonder of a world?!

Seems there is a bit of hate for this movie.

I thought it was pretty enjoyable. A bit derivative and a few plot holes aside.

Visually superb though.
