The current state of PC gaming and effects of consoles.

A lot of the problems simply boils down to the publishers themselves.. Over the last 2 weeks, BF3, MW and Skyrim have all appeared.

How do I know this.? Well I've seen adverts for them... And what gets my goat is that those adverts DO NOT MENTION THE PC VERSION AT ALL

That to my mind is just plain wrong.

What annoys me more is an advert for the game, then in the bottom corner "Not represenetive of actual gameplay footage" I mean come on, wtf, anyone can make a super realistic CGI video of some action etc. etc. why not show what you've actually created instead?

Because otherwise people watching in HD would be like "WTF why is this game so blurry and jaggedy I wont be buying this!" unless footage was from the PC version.

Hmm I suppose so, but even before the mainstream use of HD they were doing this, which was still annoying back then.

I was mainly joking. It is more to do with trying to sell it. Games are great because they are interactive. Just showing some gameplay cannot convey that feeling in the 20-30 seconds of an advert so they go for mini movies to show what the game is about rather than what the game actually is. Imagine a BF3 video where all it is is 20-30 seconds of gameplay...its not going to look good to anyone who hasn't played that kind of game before.

I remember having to trawl page after page of slow loading, pop up infested websites to get a patch for counter strike 1.4. Oh, and there were at least 17 different flavours, which if you got the wrong one.. You'd screw the whole installation.

Oh, and each one was 300MB on a 56kbps line. How fun :p

Sounds agonizing. :(

I for one give thanks to all those keyboard soldiers who find a need to buy pc games on release, who get stressed and annoyed at bugs that crash their games and wipe their saves. Its thanks to them that i can buy a game a month after the release date at half the price and with half the bugs! I salute those hardy men who lay down their sanity and wallets for me. God bless nerdom!

We know the formula. :D ;)
