The Dark Knight - **Spoiler Thread**

Just because a film is dark and serious doesn't mean it's trying to be 100% realistic.

And "why doesn't anyone recognise his jawline?" Seriously?

Think you're forgetting it's a movie based around a comic book and Two Face had injuries like that in those as well, he would have died in those too but no one's complaining about that, you sure are nitpicking. I certainly didn't think "oh my lord that must hurt an awful lot, why on earth is he refusing pain killers, oh that'll get infected, we should put some savlon on it!"

Oh and about the pain, I'm sure you missed the bit about him going insane right?

Its not so much the pain for all we know he could be numb on that side(it seems more likely). I keep wondering why isnt his eye falling out, any sudden movement, and plop it'd go.

I see nothing wrong in pointing out flaws in any film.

In a film where there is almost no noticeable CGI to have his face to that extent its like a shiny red sore thumb.

I agree with this. But thinking about it, I think that if they had stayed 'realistic' with the burned side of Dent's face, no treatment etc, it would just be more gruesome in an 'ew, wtf' than menacing.

Managed to "find" this last night, really enjoyed it, was a bit weird for me with The Joker still being alive at the end of the film, but knowing that Heath Ledger isnt, but thats not a critcism, thought it was definitely Heaths best performance so far, which is a shame considering he wont be making any others.

Liked the underlying message of the film, and I liked the bit where both sets of people on the boats decided not to kill the other, you could tell the Joker didnt think there was any good left in people and this part proved him wrong, was a really great bit in the film.

Would recommend anyone who hasnt seen it yet, does so.

I watched the original Batman film last night to refresh my memory.

Its absolutely rubbish compared to the Dark Knight. Infact I would go as far to say the whole film is boring. We never really feel threatend by the joker and Batman never seems to be in any danger. Theres so much faff as well, with scenes of just watching the batmobile from about 10 different angles and the boring batplane scene.

Mr. Nicholson was good, but it seems very tame compared to Ledger. I'd give the film 2/5. Batman Returns is much better IIRC - I shall have to rewatch this also.

When you first meet the joker, and he shows how he's going to make that pencil disappear! Completely unexpected, my gf and I turned to one another as in "did you see that, did that just happen!" Really good.

Goin to see this again on Sunday at the IMAX!!!

@sist_si: We're going to see it again next week at the IMAX, what did you think?

I've seen it three times now(not entirely on purpose, my sis forced me), it was completely engrossing each time.

In spite of my and others genuine criticism, its got to be one of the best superhero movies I've seen(probably). We'll have to wait a while for all the hype to die down to see how good it really is though.

He shoved the mans head on it yes? :D
(just checking I didnt misunderstand it)

IMAX version - anything in 3D?

Are any of the IMAX scenes (approx 30 mins I believe) in 3D? And did you notice the change from IMAX scenes to non, is the rest upscaled somehow?

None are in 3D and yes, you do notice the difference. The IMAX shots are the full size of the screen, the rest of the movies is in standard letterbox fashion.

Saw this last night and really loved it. I was a bit skeptical in the first 15 minuits, especially so with Batman's husky voice, but as soon as I got used to that again and we had the Joker I really started enjoying it.

Probably the most jaw dropping bit for me was when that lorry flipped over. That was really impressive.

I don't really care for all the nay saying over Harvey Dent's CG, pain threshold and odds of infection. Everything with him happened too quickly for infection to really be a factor, plus his skin was so badly damaged you couldn't really see what infections might or might not of been going on. The amount of pain he must have been in really lets you believe his fall from grace/degraded mental state too. If they hadn't used CG then we would have just ad bad parallels with Tommy Lee from that other Batman film.

Is Dent actually meant to be dead at the end? I wasn't too sure with that service they had. I suspect he's in Arkham.
