The Darkness

Seems like a brilliant game so far. Reminds me a lot of Deus Ex with the settings and the way you interact with things/people.

My only gripes are the gunplay seems a little clumsy, as does movement.

Funny you say that, it reminded me of Deus Ex Invisible War and i didnt kow why. Just felt the same.

Im really liking the atmosphere so far, the movement (as mentioned before) does feel a little iffy at times, but so far the story side of things is making up for it...

Spoiler Alert
I'm up to the bit where you burn the cash in the abetoire (sp?) and i've just re-entered the subway station to find my girlfriend has been snatched

Hi guys i was thinking about getting this game, but i was just wandering how open is the city? Can you go where you like when you like and is it true that this is the first game that uses the ps3 achievement thingy?! That lets you view your trophies when Home is released?

Thanks :)

I seem to be stuck watching To Kill a Mockingbird :p

[edit]
Bah! Don't even have that anymore, just stuck on the couch.

[edit2]
Looks like it's a known issue, just going to have to restart from the last checkpoint :(

Well I just got it for 360... and WOW. It's easily one of the best games of this generation. Even better graphics than Gears of War, a strong plot, amazing gameplay mechanics and brilliant scripting. What a corker.

What was The Darkness developed on PS3 or 360?

The 360 really obliterates the PS3 at the start just before the in car cut scene.

I wouldnt say it obliterates it.

Not sure what it was developed on first but im guessing the 360.

Well it looks distinctively better in that bit at least, I prefer the PS3 for some of the video but definately the 360 at the start for sure.

I agree with you the 360 looks better.

Its just a shame the PS3 doesnt use as much or any at all motion blur. I guess its down to the tech in the chip.

Josh

EDIT- Looking at the start again! :p

The PS3 has no motion blur? LOL :o . The blur really adds to the atmosphere. I also heard that despite the lack of such a feature, it still chugs compared to the 360 version.

Poor PS3, I thought your Cell was supposed to good! :p

Yeah the start does look better on the 360. Better shading and shadows. Probably the HDR coming through!

Does the PS3 have HDR on the darkness Inoshishi?

Josh

I was thinking of getting the PS3 version since it was a bit cheaper and I thought it looked better at first, aside from the start.

But no motion blur(?) and 22 July release date may aswell get the 360 version!!

You'd be doing your hands a favour as well. I bought Call of Duty 3 today as well as the Darkness, and after I had done the first mission (fighting in the village, tanks) my hands were highly uncomfortable. It's like night and day when you go from those controllers to another, especially when playing on the same genre.

Its awesome!

Well just had my first proper play of this and I guess it's an alright game but no where near as good as the man in the shop made it sound when I was buying it

The opening car chase cut scene is mighty impressive, but after that the combination of the character movement (it feels like he's walking on sand the whole time) and the crosshair made the game feel a little groggy. I left the game having just got The Darkness powers which might add to the experience of the game, only problem being is I can see me either leaving it on all the time or forgetting I've got it altogether.

I think had their been a demo on Marketplace first I wouldn't of purchased this I must admit but hopefully thought the more I play it the more I'll get into it.

I really do like the game but it could have been so much better if they sorted the movement and gunplay! It feels like you cant hit a moving target at times.
