The Darkness

How long would you say this game takes to complete the single player?

Trying to decide whether to rent or buy. Anything over a week's worth of gaming I buy. If not I will rent it.

It took me about a week to complete the game myself, although i suppose some have done it in a day or 2 etc. Mind you i just went through the game quick as i could...didnt bother with the picking up notes etc as there are over 100 of them to collect so trying to get them could take some time.

What difficulty did people do this on?

Originally i started with hard but i couldnt get past the 2 guys at the top of the elevator lol:p...kept getting more and more fustrated and i was thinking the game was rubbish but then i re-started on medium and found it bit more easier. Then the game really took off for me, started to enjoy it quite a bit.

It depends what you make of it tbh, there are sidequests on it. I'd say, taking my time and enjoying it, listening to all the speech and story and side-quests, around 12-15 hours.

Cool thanks guys. 12-15 hours is about 3 days for me so probably a rental then. I tend to try to play through a game once but pick up all the collectables in that hit.

When you play it through a second time, do the achievements kinda merge? For example, in my first run through I got so many darkness gun kills, and for one achievement you need a certain amount, if I was to start a new game would it add on to what i've already done? Same with the collectables etc

Not that it matters much anyway cos I'm selling it, but i'll definately buy it again in the future :)

Yup i would imagine so, the achievements that you didnt get first time round should be available to you second time round.
I missed out on a few achievements myself first time round so probably will get them when i re-start a new game.

Grrr...

The first helipcopter bit in the game is doing my head in, sick of repeating myself, wish you could save the game where you wanted!

Can you shoot the heli down? I'm currently looking for the "dutch oven harry guy"..

Ta

Not that I know of. If you pop in and out of its view it eventually fires missles and goes away. Just be sure you are down the corridor a bit when it is firing.

The Darkness Master achievement doesnt, atleast I do not think so anyway.

More problems!

How do you do the 'demon arm'? I've activated the darkening but can't seem to move objects, smash them etc.

Any ideas?

Very good fun once you get the hang of it. I want more ammo though, I just want to blast the crap out of everything.

I'm seeing frame-rate issues in the sub-way station when the trains go by.

This game is in some serioous need of anti-alising.

Yes, apparently you can use them to smash the lights.

I kept running out of ammo, and was getting wasted. Then I read the manual DOH! and summend that little demon thing to do some killing for me.

Which difficulty are you playing on? Medium difficulty enemies dump tons of the stuff when they die. I'm 2/3rds of the way through the game and seriously have about two dozen full clips of ammo for most guns just sitting around :D

Yes PS3 version. Got it for £33 on the bay.

It looks pretty dam amazing, but yeah frame rate issues, not that it matters a great deal.

It's a port right?

Easy lol but i'm not good with aiming on a game pad. Fire power has gotten better since I picked up the dual mac10's.

How many chapters does this game have?

The frame-rate issues and aliasing issues are native to the PS3 version, both are much better in the Xbox360 version apparently.

I've completed it on the Xbox360 and I didn't notice that many FPS flaws.

andybtsn, just hold RB for the Demon Arm. Such an awesome weapon. You can spike an enemy up agains a wall and hold him whilst shooting all his teammates, looks really good :D.
