The Darkness

Yes I had the problem with Jimmy. Went to the apartment got the list of rats, went back to him and he didn't do anything. ****** about for ages trying different things to make him acknowledge me but in the end I just thought sod it :D obviously a glitch though.

OK, starting to get more and more into this now.

Just on the bit where I've got the blackhole and I'm returning from the Turkish baths.

Only problem I've hit, don't know if it's a glitch or not, is to do with the old lady at Fulton station who's offered me a challenge of picking up 4 coins. Got all 4, but got hit by the train, so had another go, but all she does now (after I've accepted her challenge) is stand by the side of the track and looks at me stupid.

Has anyone else had this problem with the little side missions? I'm gonna go through the game again on hard so will probably get to this bit again, but it's a tad annoying.

I had this problem as well, more than bit of a nuisance as looking at a guide it would seem that was the only mission stopping me from getting an achievement. Shouldnt really grumble though, this game throw achievements at you for a first run through.

Just going through this again and a name on the credits seemed familiar.

Uncle Paulie is none other than Dwight Schultz!!!*

Sorry, useless information y'know, but, hey ho.

* screaming mad murdock for the A-Team.

Well I finished it last night and must say that it does get a lot better towards the end, and I found myself actually enjoying the game for once. Sadly the netcode is a shambolic mess right from the start...

From the devs talking to Xboxic:

Check your bandwidth speeds and follow these guidelines. This should ensure that you minimize or completely eliminate the lag.

* below a 1.5 megabit/s upstream, host only up to 3 players - (lol)
* 1.5 - 4 megabit/s upstream, host only up to 4 players - (lmao)
* above 4 megabit/s upstream, host up to 8 players. - (ORLY LOL)

Now some bad news for those of you who’ve been asking - No, there will not be any patches or updates that will bring Darkness powers into the multiplayer games. I’ve already told some of you individually why, but I’ll tell the lot of you what’s going on. Simply, it would throw the balancing out of whack and would not be fun. The Darkness Powers make you reallly, REALLY strong.

Since single player was our focus we didn’t work on a way to make the Darkness Powers feasible. It would have taken A LOT of time to get those powers to work in a mutliplayer game that would not have been cheap and frustrating. HOWEVER, if we do a sequel that is definitely something that we will do our best to include… especially if The Brotherhood wills it enough.

Fixed :p

A-Team rules! He does a lot of voices for loads of games check out imdb and see how many VG game character voices he has done.

Glad you started enjoying it at the end, sorry my recommendation didn't go down too well, diff'rent strokes I guess, but I know a lot of people do like it as well.

I still maintain that The Darkness has the best use of HDR lighting ever seen in a video game as well as some of (if not the best) voice acting and a strong story from start to finish. Something I've not had in a long time.

SPOILERS!

well i finally got this on friday, loving it so far. I can see why someone on here compared it to deus ex, the feeling of the game is just so right. And theres nice little touches all over the place, like the way Jackie adjusts how he grips his guns as you move around and take cover. Thought the game took a little down turn when you got to the other world, nice initially, but a bit repetitive, but im back in the real world now. I have to say the bit where you watch jenny die is probably the most heart renching moment i've had in a video game, the way you dont know when its going to happen and whether the darkness will let you go, brilliant scene.

That's cool matey, no probs :) I guess I just expected a lot more when I checked out a few reviews before buying the game lol

Whats with the extreme lag I'm getting with this game. Its the kinda lag I thought left behind with my 28800 modem back in the early 90's. Thats 8 games now that have been unplayble.

i think the only reason they stuck it in is because so many people complained about riddick not having any, because apparently its a crime to released a great single player title without multiplayer nowadays :rolleyes:

well ive just finished mine, and im a bit dissapointed, the game feels way to short, and the ending is pants.
After going out of my way to do all the side missions and discoveries etc.. I'd calculate it took me around 10-13 hours, I wouldn't call that too short.
I also loved the ending.

Same here.

Game of the year IMO (so far... hopefully Bioshock will take that accolade next month :) )

So far, for me it's up there for game of the year. Isn't GotY announced around August anyway, might be too early for Bioshock to get a shout.

Next year there will be real competition for that honour:
Mass Effect, Halo 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Crysis, Bioshock all look like serious contenders.

Not really the best scale to use for any game to be honest. :).

Not bad so far, just got started really. Controls are easy enough, not sure with the auto aim. I'm sure after a chapter I will be used to it though.

Story looks good. Not really into anything scary and this is the first game I've played since having my surround set up. Almost **** myself on one occasion when a voice came from behind me.

I will give it a longer go tommorow but so far so good. :)
