The Days Before COD Was Naff

just installed this again on w7 was a bit of a bitch to get graphics right but man its still top draw

started single player and forgot how hard it was :p botting me with rifles :D

gunna do a video of single player and add when done.

heres some settings if you want to play at 1920x1080 and makes a hell of a difference and looks pretty good

ok you put this in your mp cfg in cod 1 folder

seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_customheight "1080"
seta r_customwidth "1920"

or adjust for your settings this is for 1920x1080 and makes a big difference

if you have vista or windows 7 and brightness doesnt alter try this

seta r_overBrightBits "1" ---> seta r_overBrightBits "0"

I've played Call of Duty from the beginning, but for me COD4 was the best damn that game was just tight, great multiplayer.

Give CoD4 a graphical revamp, more weapons to choose from, more maps and take away the killstreaks and it would be hard to beat.

COD 4 MW1 is a great game its also 1st cod modern guns so not fair to compare 100% to COD 1,2

HOwever in its own right game was dyanmite.

After COD4 it sucked

COD1 and COD2 Multiplayer were quite honestly the best. No wacky killstreaks or gimmicks just good honest gameplay. I logged so many hours on COD it almost totals my WoW /played.

It just felt less arcadey and was a much more solid game in my opinion.

I played the WW2 ones this year for the first time, i thought MoH: AA was good, but the WW2 CoD's really blew me away.

Well, they were essentially made by the same people, most of the Allied Assault Devs left 2015 to form Infinity Ward.

Good god, I put so many hours into COD:UO, my first shooter I took seriously online and really got into.

Used to love Arnhem, Foy, Rhine Valley and Carentan for the fast paced action where personal favourites of mine. :D

COD:UO is easily the best COD. I'm always going on about it to friends who only know it from the consoles. It's a totally different game now. I racked up many hours in UO and played many clan matches. Got some good vids somewhere too of the Definitive Leagues S & D final.

I remember not knowing anything about call of duty, and ordering it (think it was £40) because a few people on this forum said it was going to be a good game. I loved MOHAA.

Came a few days after release, and it was just the best ww2 shooter i had ever played.

Played in day in, day out. Then UO came out.

Nothing changed. Original Call of Duty all the way.

Not saying UO wasnt good, but it added and changed so much to the fundamental gameplay. COD1 was so simple, that it made it a much fairer and simple game. UO just made the maps twice as large, changed the dynamic of weapons etc. I have to say, i prefered COD2 to UO actually, but i know a lot of people didnt like COD2..

At first when cod 2 came out I was so bitterly disappointed in it, due to racking up so many hours on the glory that was United Offensive.

CoD 2 and 4 made for better SD matches than CoD:UO, but UO was the last time I properly enjoyed playing cod for the sake of enjoying the game than playing matches. Good times.

I disagree with the OP completely cod4 was also an amazing game, I racked up so many hours playing it with my mates after school it's crazy :D

Exactly my thoughts OzZie. I tried to put that across earlier in the thread but didn't do it as well as you just did :D

I also preferred COD2 to UO, but COD vanilla was always the number 1 for me. I played a lot of vCOD, but now I look back on it, I wish I played even more!
