What kind of neighborhood do you live in?
People putting a brick through your window, using your car as a bin and nicking the headlights of an old Lolvo 940 ? If such things happened here I'd think of moving.
The brick didn't happen locally. I was driving at the time.
For your other points, you need to recalibrate your sarcasm detectors. Scrapyard fail to turn up on the day they promised (after I took a day off work to wait for them), and then for some reason, mysteriously useful (and saleable) spare parts disappear from the car and a bin is emptied into it, hmm?

Scrapyard didn't turn up in time, so in retaliation me and my mate stripped off all the useful spares.
The area is fine, it's mostly retired coal miners, so while it's a fairly poor area they're decent people who will just let you get on with projects like this so long as you don't take the ****. Quite a few stopped around for a chat and a looksie at what we were up to whilst on their way home from the pub, no-one minds, no-one is going to nick anything, you can leave your door unlocked around here.
