The "Death" Of The Linear Video Game

I came across this youtube video this morning. It makes me sad to see the gaming industry go this way.


And then a bit later I read this article on Eurogamer.

I'm getting open world overload myself. As most of them feel lazy. And not populated with interesting stuff that isn't mostly copy and paste.

And because of the easy money they can make with the open world model. The future of single player linear games isn't looking to good at all. :(

Some people just have to much money to burn.
 
Thank you for sharing this, I have had a growing issue with the open world model for a while now - bigger does not mean better in many cases.
 
I'm not really for or against the fall of liner games personally. I like that more and more games are open-world now, it provides a lot more entertainment and replayability.

Don't get me wrong though, linear games are awesome too though. I still remember the good old days of Rayman on the PS1. Awesome, brilliant linear game which provided hours and hours of stress-inducing fun!
