The deer hunter

Classic film, really brings the story of the friendship at the beginning of the film, its hard watching at the beginning but worth it.
 
In my opinion its the greatest film ever made. Everything about it just feels right, it seems to resonate with something special.

Having said that, watch it when you're really prepared to commit all your attention to it, and probably on your own.

My mother said it is a reeeally good film and told me to watch it, it reeeeeally isnt. Sat there for about 30 mins wanting to spoon my eyes out. Needless to say, I turned it off :)

Same here, certainly wouldn't watch it again. A lot of the so called 'great' films really fail to live up to the hype for me, Dog day afternoon being another.
 
It wasn't meant to be harsh, I wouldn't have liked it at your age either. But now I'm old and grumpy and I enjoy rubbish films with lots of talking and stern faces. :p
