My mother said it is a reeeally good film and told me to watch it, it reeeeeally isnt. Sat there for about 30 mins wanting to spoon my eyes out. Needless to say, I turned it off :)

Get some patience and sit down to watch probably the most perfect film ever made.

I agree it's hard going for the first part. The first part just sets up the characters and relationships.

This is a superb film, an epic to be honest.
You do have to set yourself up to watch a good long deep film though so prepare well.
Sit back and get to know the characters before it launches into a tremendous story of loyalty and friendship.
An excellent film.

you need to watch it past the 1st hour to see some action

'put an empty chamber in that gun'

the russian roulette scene is harrowing as hell!

Hard film to watch - up there with apocalypse now for needin to actually watc it closely.

Though its a tough watch, its not as harrowing as a russian war film, "Come and see" - the most brutal, amazing war film I've seen.

I also think this film is overrated. The drawn out introduction is mind numbingly dull - I'm all for character development and all, but it could so easily be condensed. The russian roulette scene is incredible and one of my favourite movie scenes ever, though.

Definitely worth watching though.
