5 months after buying the kit, I've finally got the 3 piece 111s style diffuser fitted to my s2! I think it's a big improvement over the original style one. :D

Yes, the pipes are a bit wonky and I've got to put the reflectors on! I need to get hold of some black bolts now as well.

I've had Nitron Racing Reds fitted too. The car's a firmer ride now but not uncomfortably so. It corners a lot flatter and you get a lot more confidence in the corners. The car ran on rails before but it's cornering ability now is just phenomenal! More piccies to follow. :)

Looks less like chickens are held behind the bumper now. Nice simple mod to make it look better. You got any side on photos to show the lowering, or is it just firmer?

I've kept the standard ride height because with the front splitter fitted I'd loose too much ground clearance and would be forever smacking into speed bumps. Here's the Eliseparts blurb about the Nitrons:

An affordable but yet high performance solution for those looking to improve the road and track handling on their Lotus.

Designed as a more road orientated kit, the Racing Reds are valved and sprung accordingly.

They have height adjustable spring platforms, so you can run your car up to 30mm lower than standard, thus lowering the centre of mavity which in turn assists your vehicles cornering ability.
The Racing Reds use 275lb front and 350lb rear 1.9” I/D road springs which saves weight and allows optimal body control without any undue harshness.

They feature superior gas-monotube technology, something unique to Racing Red in this price range.

This ensures they offer a distinct performance advantages over the many twin-tube based products on the
market, in terms of weight, responsiveness and fade resistance.
Machined from Aircraft spec billet aluminium and supplied with high quality spherical bearings, low friction seals and bright anodised aluminium spacers.

Cars looking pretty good with the new diffuser on it Trick - though a before and after shot would be good also ;)

Judging by the photo's above there hardly looks like there's enough room in your garage to fit the car - let alone for the driver to open the door and get out

I went to Halfrauds to see about some black M5 bolts but came back empty handed having concluded that every fitting they stock is likely to be made of cheese and will round-off immediately, not to mention corrode with the aluminum!

Pure aluminium doesn't corrode, the surface becomes oxidised quickly, so that protects all the metal underneath it.

That splitter looks nice, is it standard apart from the springs and the splitter?

The full list of mods is:

Mintex 1144s, EBC Ultimax Grooved Discs, quick shifter, Gear Linkage upgrade, Hurricane Induction kit, Larini Clubsport Exhaust, HID dipped lamps, LED side-lights, sill pockets, wiper mod, shelf liners, electric windows, central locking, front splitter, hardtop, Nitron Racing Reds, 111s diffuser, Hanagar111 rear-view mirror, S-steel braided hoses, Lotus black 6 spoke alloys, Multivex mirrors.

I thought that aluminum could suffer from electrolytic corrosion when in contact with stainless steel in a damp or salty environment?

You put in performance mods, then then put in central locking and electric windows, adding to the lard effect =(

what do the wheels look like? =]

I think the electric windows actually weigh less than the standard mechanism, I'm not sure of the weight gain in terms of retro fitting it though.

The car's looking really good by the way, good choice on the Nitrons ;)

Actually you can delete the central locking and leccy windows from the mods list as technically they're factory fitted on certain specs! I just cut and pasted my additions list from SELOC. The leccy windows are indeed lighter than the original winding mechs.

That's very interesting. I am going to look at Racing Reds for the Cerb next Sat. Paul at PPC in Melton is mates with the owner of Nitron and has been assuring me that the Reds will be an excellent set up.
