Bizarre little story for you. I have had my parents staying with me here for a while, my Dad is 80 this year and his new thing is watching football related stuff on YouTube. Mostly it’s daft old blokes on teams calls discussing Newcastle united and calling it a podcast but he hasn’t yet deciphered that most, if not all, the stuff he watches is made up rubbish with clickbait thumbnails. Then he’ll tell me “they” reckon the deal for Dubravka is already done. Or “they” say Chelsea are putting a bid in for Isak this week. “They” being said daft old blokes or some young man utd supporting bird who pronounces it noocarsle.
Anyway, yesterday he told me Chelsea beat Morecambe 5-0. Told him the game kicks off tomorrow. Nope he says, I just watched the highlights. Then proceeds to show me the video and sure enough that’s what it looked like. After some investigation and showing him the fixture list both on the BBC and CFC website I discovered it was Chelsea v Preston from the cup last year with a Che V Mor superimposed over the score in the corner. Uploaded by some someone with an Arab name for whatever reason I don not know.
After lecturing him again on not taking stuff he sees online as being absolute I had a feeling he still didn’t believe me. Got up this morning and he says to me see Chelsea finally won 5-0. Told ya.
